We do not have a choice. Far as the irrigation water, I asked the cooperative extension folks about using it on stuff you will eat. The reply was we will get back to you and they never did.
I would imagine the recycled water varies depending on when. Fertilizer, insecticide, dog waste even pool chemicals are all in it.

“Older areas” north of 466 I understand use potable water to irrigate. South of 466 do not. We live between 466 and 44 and our irrigation water is reclaimed (non-potable) water.

As for water:
- We don't need scolding about wasting water. Anyone who thinks water waste is a problem, either doesn't understand how well this magnificent planet takes care of itself, or is from the government trying to tell you how to run your life.

- Irrigation water south of 44 is from the ponds, and contains anything that runs off of lawns and paths ... and smells like it too. And yes, it includes minerals which cause the stains. No, I wouldn't use it for watering vegetables I intend to eat.
