Humidifiers
Being from the New England area, every winter we use humidifiers in the house to increase the comfort level in the house. I know in the summer the opposite is the problem in Florida, but what about the winter? Does anyone have and use humidifiers?

Generally speaking, colder air holds less moisture than moist air. The northeast in winter is a lot colder than winter in TV, thus, a lot dryer than TV. Personally, I don't think humidifiers are used much in TV because the air does not get cold enough for a long enough period to lose much moisture. Matter of fact, our windows are open for the majority of the winter and seldom find it cold enough to turn the heat on except for maybe a few frosty mornings. I think you'll be just fine without a humidifier.

Humidifiers have been a priority in every home we have ever built....
except in FL. First there is enough humidity most months of the year.
During the heating season, is when we needed it most. Of course heating season is a relative term (like humidity!!). Even when the temps go down for a day or two here, the sun warms the day to where the heat is not really required....of course dependent upon your body comfort preferences. Since they are so easy to install at any point, I would suggest not having one....try it. If you think you need it....then have it added. You will find as stated early in the thread there are many, MANY days you will have no heat or A/C with the windows, doors and everything you can open....OPEN. You will be soon climatized to FL temps....with or without. BTK |
