How is this interfering with your daily activities?

If it bothers you so much, go pick some of it up and find a place to dispose of it.

If you think the piles look bad now, wait to see what's left of the grass after they get picked up.

You said it right. People know we aren't supposed to talk about Fema and stuff on here. I say that I am just fine waiting for the Feds to pick it up. We already paid in to it. We are living here because most of us have taken good care of our money. Saved it. Reused stuff. Didn't spend it on foolishness and all those other virtues. It's been a great week for most of us.

Is there a reason this stuff cannot be burned for generating electricity?

I know it’s a bubble that we live in. But if you leave you will see that all over central Florida there are similar piles of debris everywhere.

Only so many people and so much equipment to remove.

Rent a chipper and a muncher and go into business. Ground cover, mulch, etc. By the bag or by the truck load. My garden could use a few cubic yards.
Just a thought.

From the district gov email today: 11/8/2024

Hurrican Milton Debris collection began October 20, 2024, and crews are working daily from sunrise until approximately sundown. To date, over 8,000 cubic yards of debris has been collected in The Villages.
Given our community's extensive size of over 90+ square miles, please be patient as the debris is collected. We are now beginning collection in residential areas and will continue to provide updates on when you can anticipate collection in your district.

Morse Blvd, El Camino Real, Buena Vista Blvd (north of District 9), Fenney Way, Canal St, Hillsborough Trail, Meggison Road, Odell Circle, Pinellas, Bonita Blvd, Stillwater Trail, Rainey Trail, Avenida Central, Warm Springs, Rio Grande, Marsh Bend Trail, Moyer Loop, St. Charles Place
Work is currently underway in the following areas:
Central Parkway, Recreation Center areas, Fire Stations
Work is currently underway in the following residential areas:
Districts 1, 2 and 4
This schedule will be updated weekly. Please click the link below for more information on these collection efforts or call District Customer Service at 352-753-4508 for any questions.

Go to the costal towns and then you will see and smell debris piles. Whine all you want, you have it easy compared to those that lost everything.
