Two or three small indicator lights here and there. We started unplugging the coffee maker after use in the morning. Didn’t affect this charge.
Garage opener, refrigerator, washer/dryer, TVs, lamps, robots, any cord that plugs into the wall. We have a $19 always on.
When we go out of town for 7 days or more we unplug everything except fridge, wifi, pool. 16 day trial our always on reduced to $11.
Our grandson used the data for an energy paper, still not the results one would expect.

We had the luxury of slow move in for this house first month only fridge and stove, always on was $4. Seco app is for fun not accuracy.

Any phones are sleep don’t disturb. Our LR switches have a pinpoint light, that you wouldn’t notice until foot away.

Sleep clinics routinely advise against any light form to acquire REM sleep.

45 years of call, never needed light source to get dressed, out the door in 5 minutes, never waking children.
Most people don't sleep near their computer, or in their kitchen. The only light he specified being in the bedroom was their clock. That can be turned to the side if necessary, which would result in very minor ambient light rather than something directed toward their bed.

Window shades or black-out curtains can mostly eliminate light coming from outside a bedroom window. The bedroom door can be closed to eliminate all light coming from anywhere in the house other than the bedroom.

But the OP isn't complaining of not being able to sleep. He was using one specific incident to detail his observation about light in the house, in general.

I have a Kindle wireless charger in my bedroom with a very bright LED yellow light on it. I applied an Amazon blackout sticker to it and all of the light is gone.

See, easy to fix. My charger isn't wireless, and has no light. My router has a light, but it's faced away from the bed and the glow from it isn't visible, since it's obscured by my Samsung tablet. I use the tablet as my alarm clock so - no light from that unless I'm actively using it, or when the alarm goes off (in which case its lighting up becomes a good thing).

We have those and at night, I do NOT consider them very bright. Maybe we have different brand lights?

I have considered using a cane at night to keep from falling. Maybe one with a small flashlight?

I agree. Both lights and sounds should stay out of the sleep area. I use the blackout tape and still must close the BR door because it opens to the LR/Kitchen. It looks like a runway at night. Our fitness watches show much more REM sleep when we darken the house. Now to rethink those solar tubes.
