Default I need some repair advice.

I live in a Courtyard Villa in Duval that was built around 2007. I opened my medicine cabinet this morning and the hinge broke. I went to Lowes and Home Depot and neither one has a direct replacement, which I find hard to believe considering all of the homes that have the same medicine cabinets. Also, the medicine cabinets don't have a manufacturer's name on them. So, if anyone has any information on the cabinets or hinges, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Bill.

Another option is find someone to make a new door. We did this when framing the large mirror and had a matching framed mirror door made.

Mine says Jensen 1459MOD-A, 1-800-335-8351. But, why not just buy a new medicine cabinet that fits the drywall opening? It just attaches with 4 screws on the sides of the cabinet. Remove the screws and slide in a new cabinet.

You could also try ACE hardware, but I would just replace BOTH hinges instead of trying match the broken one.

Call home warranty (352-753-6222). Give them your lot # listed on your Villages ID card. They should be able to help you.

This is the product search warranty website:

Product Search - The Villages Residential Construction and Home Warranty : The Villages Residential Construction and Home Warranty

However, I don't think they include medicine cabinets.

Look up "piano hinge 24 inch" on Amazon. Attaching the new hinge to the Mirror side could be a problem.

Good Luck.

Call RoMac or the phone number on the inside of the medicine cabinet mirror. There is a sticker. The hinge is under warranty. They will mail you one free. Happened to me last year.

Romac may have provided you with a new hinge, but, according to both The Villages warranty booklet and the online Jensen warranty information, the warranty period is only one year.

If the medicine cabinet is a Jensen Model 1459, you can buy a new one from Amazon for $95. Here is the link:

Amazon.com

If you just get a hinge, I would not know how to install it because the mirror side of the hinge appears to be glued on at the factory. You cannot attach screws to the mirror side. Personally, I would buy the entire medicine cabinet from Amazon. It installs with only 4 screws that attach at the sides to the existing studs. It looks like a very easy DIY installation. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me about 5 years ago. My home is also in Duval, built 2007. Nameplate on medicine cabinet led me to Kohler. Contacted them and they gave me the part number above. Good luck.

So easy to replace entire cabinet and not that expensive. For less than $100 you have a new cabinet.

Check the materials list you may have or contact the warranty department for the vendor.

Mine is a BROAN brand and hinge welded/brazed to metal backing. No way to replace that hinge. IMO I doubt it’s under warranty being built in 2007? I just replace it with better brand?
