I get the TV or computer setup for a live feed, then I watch the live feed for several seconds and go out on my lanai and watch the rocket about 15 to 20 seconds after launch.

Never heard of one in the 10 years I've been here. Not sure what you mean by "set up for."

I can't for the life of me understand why they didn't contract out the Artemis mission to a private company, like SpaceX. They have shown they can do it cheaper and faster than NASA was ever able to.

I’ve never heard of it either. There are the telescope pads over at Homestead Rec Center but I doubt they’d offer any better view than anywhere else.

For those who don't know, NASA has a space launch facility at Wallops Island on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Most launches are small but a couple times a year they send a larger rocket up to resupply the ISS. Wallops posts a map showing who can see the launch and how long after takeoff. I wonder if Kennedy does the same.

Perhaps because NASA had already started on SLS/Orion before SpaceX had proven themselves.

For observing launches from Kennedy, you'll be just as well off on your own property. While we can rarely see the actual vehicles from this distance, the contrails from the rockets are usually visible a few seconds after launch. Seems like the 60’s technology is far superior to the one they are trying to launch now. Get the rocket in the museum back into the game

Everything government attempts is garbage compared to having the experts from the outside doing it. Health care and space exploration projects are just 2 examples. If anybody else would have their project cost increase from $4B to $93B, would have been fired. Musk should show up, fix the leak, then Artemis could take off.
