I had an interesting experience many years ago up north driving to work on ice-covered roads. The maximum speed I could travel without losing control was 30 MPH. A guy pulled in back of me from a side street and decided to tailgate me. There was no way to go faster without losing control, so I lightly tapped my brake to flash my taillights. I remember winter driving back in Minnesota (seems like a long time ago). But any other Minnesotan, especially if he/she drives around Minneapolis - St. Paul and the surrounding suburbs, will know instantly what I mean when I say that it takes at least two good snowstorms for the "stupid" to wear off. There've been innumerable times when, on icy or snowy freeways, I'd have some cowboy pass me like his tail was on fire, only to find him a couple of miles ahead spun out in the median, or with a highway patrol having him pulled over.

You might break the rules of the road and get by with it for awhile, but eventually the laws of physics will get you.

I reread the thread, my posts and the critical replies thinking I may have misspoke or could have been misinterpreted. Thinking back to the incident and 55ish years later and I'd do the exact same thing if it happened today.

I was ok with your story, initially, because ‘55’ yrs ago....16yr olds were considered juveniles in this country (legally speaking). There’s a reason why they seal juvenile records so as to not damage their future as adults (obvious exceptions). But fast forward ‘55 yrs’ and you’re still doubling down on the incident and your actions. The ‘critical replies’ you’re receiving seem warranted given your responses to each and every one of them. I enjoy your posts/stories on here Leroy...this one is not one of them. But that’s on me!

Deliberately brake checking is illegal. If it causes an accident, it's a felony.
Deliberately driving below the speed limit - with no rational reason other than to annoy other drivers - is also illegal.
Being involved in an accident you caused, even if you are damage free, and then leaving the scene, is a felony.
