I can't help thinking the land anywhere near Austin would be very dear. Many years ago, in the late 80's, and dreaming of getting out of the big city of Houston, we looked around the hill country lakes and it was expensive then.

However, if the Morses were going to expand, it makes sense to go to Texas with its friendly government, lots of room, and can-do attitude.

I recently drove through Texas, east to west in December. West to east in January.

On the return trip I noticed a bulldozer in a field.

There you have it, I put two and two together. At some point in time the Morse's must have traveled the same route (or at least flew over the area). They saw an opportunity many would have missed - vacant land + bulldozer = $$$$$.

Even further confirmation - the bulldozer was the same color as the ones doing work here in The Villages.

Also, my dog sat up in the car. He usually only does that when we get close to home.
I think this is as valid as the bank VP. Good one~

Now if you can confirm that the bulldozer was building an executive golf course we'd have the final proof!

If the Properties of The Villages was traded publicly would this be "insider" information?

I have never understood what that meant. I am still confused about Martha Stewart.

Did I just hijack my own thread..........again?

So what would you change if The Villages were built somewhere else? How would YOU make it more perfect from the beginning? Bigger lots? Fences? Indoor pools?

Keep trying Gracie. Eventually we'll get back in-line!

I'd like to see an option (from the beginning) that allows the lanai to be enclosed. Not saying I would have chosen that but for some 'kissing lanai' situations it might be wanted.

Another thing I'd like to see is the ability to delete, for credit, the appliances. Then put in your own.

I also heard the rumor of Austin Texas area a couple years ago. It would make sense. Good weather, low cost property, friendly government, no state income taxes and low cost to develop. My guess would be they have very good statistics on what sells best, what features are in the most demand and what amenities people want.

If I could change one thing with the models they build here, it would be bigger garages. Seems like most things I want to do, need to be done in the garage and they are to small. I need work bench space and tools and hobby areas and more storage. More space for toys. I would make them all at least 4 feet wider and ten feet longer. In the cost of the building, garage space is on the very low end, so make them all bigger.

Not wanting to start a new rumor.....I have heard that the powers that be...Mose and others...are planning a similar property in Texas. Has anyone else heart this??

As for help when you cannot drive anymore...there are several organizations and companies that do provide those services. If you can afford Freedom Point they provide it. People I know depend on friends and families and these orgnaizations, not TV.

Linda - you need to read the previous posts in this thread. All about Texas!
