Default If you play in the Concert Band!

This question is for anyone that plays in the Villages concert band...I am a band director and was looking for some music to play next spring for my high school band and came across a piece written by Jack Bullock titled "To Those Who Serve." This piece was written for your band in honor of its' founder James O. Pierce.

I would like to ask how the band liked the piece - how playable is it - tricky ww fingerings?? brass ranges...etc. Without seeing the full score, and just listening online - sometimes hard to tell these details. I hope there are band members that read this message board that played this piece. Copyright was 2006 so I would guess it had been programmed in 05 maybe...

While I hopefully have the attention of some band members - what is your schedule the next 3-4 weeks? Rehearsals?? Concerts?? Thanks

I am in the New Horizons Concert Band and presently playing with the concert band preparing for our combined concert on July 5th at the Savannah Center. Performances will be at 3 PM and 7 PM. Tickets are $10 on sale now at the box offices. The concert band rehearses at the Mulberry Rec center on Tuesday nights, 7 - 9 PM. The New Horizons rehearses on Thursday mornings at Hibiscus from 10 - 12 PM. It is the same directors for both groups. Come tomorrow morning and you may be able to inquire about the music you are interested in.

Thanks for the schedule - I am not in The Villages - just going to be passing through sometime in the next 4-6 weeks - not sure yet as school just let out. I have been reading on this site for couple years after we found TV about 3 years ago - have stopped by 3 times for just a few hours at a time but not able to schedule a lengthier visit as of yet. Still teaching for a few more years! Was hoping to hear the band either in concert or a rehearsal then next time we will be there.

Also would like to hear from someone who might have played the piece I originally referenced. Hopefully someone will remember.
