[QUOTE=samhass;748742]Our home sits under a massive old oak. We had it painted a fawn grey that almost matches the moss in tree and also picked up all the charcoal colors in our tan stonework.

Why would someone paint a "massive old oak" tree? I think they look fine just the way they are.

Sorry, Zonerboy. I wasn't an English major.

[QUOTE=elevatorman;748765]Can you help me choose? I am leaning towards the jumbo jet.

I like the jet Elevatorman but think the boat might be more 'villages' style. My personal preference would be the horse, I really enjoyed 'Mr. Ed" as a kid. LOL I have not laughed so hard in a while, thanks for the visual aid.

I find this discussion interesting and I truly don't have much of an opinion about what my current neighbors do. The house next to us has been 'bank owned' for several years and is an eyesore like you would not believe. You can see the house was once very nice but now it is horrible. It is on a corner lot so lots of us get to share it's spendor.

That lady was gracious enough to repaint her house at her own cost. She had no idea it would create such an uproar when she moved in and had it painted.

I know each to their own but this is not the type of area to express your personal taste in such a bold way. Is anyone else thinking about this?

I agree with this completely unless someone's free expression involves a Fuchsia home near me. Then I will not agree, but suffer silently.

Anyone know how they could add a deed restriction after you have signed off on the deed restriction at closing??? I'm all for having some control over paint colors, but hw do you accomplish that after the fact?

while the report may be anonymous (your information will not be communicated to the offending party) you must give your information to the person taking the report. otherwise there will be no report; they usually reply back to you when the complaint has been delivered.
but, it is not anonymous.

No one likes to be a snitch, but some things just need to be reported because they are so BAD looking.

They don't tell the person that you reported that you reported them.

Paint color is not one of them that is under deed restrictions and there is nothing that can be done if someone paints something a gawdawful color.

If you want to confront the person knowing this and hoping for change you must weigh whether you want to live in the same neighborhood with someone who dislikes you mightily.

I like deed restrictions, They have teeth.

Sometimes we will have to just swallow hard and put up with things.

A bad, BAD, paint color can devalue all of the homes around it and I feel very bad for the people who have to deal with their neighbors poor taste.

But it would nice with a flock of plastic flamingoes in the front yard.
