I have no way of knowing if the "offenders" are men or women, that's nearly impossible now anyway, since an on line name is now no indication, and a picture means nothing. Obviously, having another "community on line social site" for normal interchanges, and another folks who really enjoy that "inside jokes", and "back and forth ****ing contests" (sorry, but that's what it's usually called) are very indicative of a junior high mentality, and yet, I have no objections to those who enjoy this, but wish there was a site where those new the villages would not be ridiculed and offended for the entertainment of others... I just hate that it happens so often.
I’m contemplating changing my TOTV name from MrFriendly to FRIENDLY now. Just in case.

I take ownership of my offensive posts from back then and have toned it down greatly.

We were on the NOTHING thread for years and had a blast. I want to concentrate on the good stuff but I’m not going to claim that I didn’t deserve some of the replies served up to me because I did deserve them. Not so much anymore. I’ve been humbled by an injury and our life during Covid had changed us all. We lost so many friends in New Jersey during this time that it made me realize that I don’t need to be on TOTV’S to post every single thing that I think or experience about what’s going on.

The one thread I do remember vividly was when our dog passed away and the outpouring of love from other posters was phenomenal. The Thread was Named Hearbroken. It was when our mutual great friend Barefoot was still very active on the Forum. She was an animal lover too. Enough from me old friend, I hope you are doing well too!

I ran into Barefoot yesterday. She seems to be doing really well. But she does not use the computer much now.

I lost a pooch when on Talk of the Villages and remember how helpful others were on here as well.

Seems your going to insert yourself into a shell in order not to see other opinions that don't match yours...

I would say that there are comments that truly are unnecessary and unkind but I tend to pass them over and read the comments that are helpful. Don’t allow a handful of sarcastic curmudgeons ruin this forum for you. For the most part those who respond do so with respect and good intent.

Thanks for the directions to the ignore feature, I would have never found that on my own!

If I have had tormentors teaming up I would just make my Ignore List longer so as not to see any more posts by posters who work as a group. Some of the prior very frequent posters were very good at getting people to gang up on others.

There is a small group of about 6-7 guys here that have ruined this app for me (you know who you are) - These guys over-post on every single thread, are smug and sarcastic, have an inflated high opinion of themselves, think themselves so much wiser, sharper and wittier than most others here - are quick to and enjoy pointing out errors of others, enjoy demeaning and shaming others, and are all around not nice people, sorta like the schoolyard bully that craves attention, even if it’s negative. There is something wrong with these people and I actually feel sorry for them, as they seem to lead miserable, uneventful lives, and have nothing really better to do than hang out on this site all day long to stir controversy. It has become tiresome to avoid this small but extremely vocal group,- I know you can use the ignore feature, but inevitably someone else will copy and post their comments into the thread when they respond. Thanks for the rest who have been so helpful and kind - Everyone please be nice to each other - if a question is being repeated from previous posts, don’t shame the person - they could be new, or unaware of previous posts- and don’t belittle them for asking a question you think they should already know the answer to - if you have nothing nice, polite or positive to say -then simply dont reply or post anything - it only makes you look “small” and insecure.
Don't let it get to you.

I had one poster, after I commented about the gate arms being really quick to drop back down, make a snarky comment like I was trying to speed through. I wasn't used to the gate being that fast because the one at my former place was really slow in comparison. Many here receive the snark stuff, I think the more you post questions the more snark you are likely to get. The cool guy with the shades in this thread gets it, he only provides answers!

<- me ducking the snark

Look at how many people liked your post. It’s very obvious that many of us don’t like the sarcastic, snide remarks from some.

I think you need to be logged into your TOTV account before you can see the "User Lists" link.
