MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN TO THE VILLAGES A COUPLE OF TIMES LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO RETIRE. IT LOOKS LIKE A GREAT AREA, BUT WE HAVE HEARD THAT WHEN YOU BUY A HOME THERE,YOU PURCHACE THE HOME ONLY.AND NOT THE LAND. ANY TRUTH TO THAT?

I heard that same rumor before we moved here. I checked it out. NO , it's NOT the truth. Wonder who is spreading that rumor!

confusion may just come from the fact that the village covenants would restrict what type of replacement dwelling you could place on your home site. i live in a villa and could only replace in kind.

With so many Land Lease development (It seemed like that's all we got when inquiring into retirement communities) that was the first question we asked when we were in TV last year. we were told you own the land and house when you buy. No Land Lease
