As long as you don't have a mortgage, that's a perfectly reasonable approach and many people do it. You usually need to use a "specialty" insurer, like Lloyd's.

Exactly...............insure for what you can not afford.

The roof homeowners should be non-renewed............the owners are the scammers.

Where have we heard the new roof scam before…lol. Those dumb enough to fall for the contractor scam deserve what’s coming to them. Ya, free new roofs aren’t so free, who knew?

I for one would rather pay half the price when the time comes by being legitimate in my dealings.
