Thanks Rhonda...any particular phrase, threat, or negotiating tactic you used? Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw for what mood the telephone rep is in.

I just say I want to cancel my service, where do I turn in the equipment?
They transfer you to the retention dept., real quick.

We have had a bad history with Comcast. I would never do business with them again. Centurylink still seems to be very good after 7 months. My favorite out ouf all these companies is DirecTv and the actual service has been great the billing not so much. We are all over the place with the bill. I get it straightened out every month but I'm tired of having to make "The Call". When I pointed out that the bill was $37 dollars more this month and we had some local channels missing for a couple of weeks it actually brought a sigh from the nice lady in customer service. None of these companies get it....provide the service....keep the bill consistent and don't straight up rip off people like the OP, that is a shame, Comcast should be ashamed of themselves if those prices were accurate.

I would wait for a DISH special of three years guaranteed at the same price.

The DISH store up on 441 across from Walmart. See Jennifer Peters. 352.553.4921 If you have a problem with your bill, you can always go to the store and see them to get it rectified, as opposed to calling a 800 or 888 number and getting a robotic rep who will give you the company line, until you threaten to cancel.

Just got a two year extension at a low price. No fuss, no muss.

It seems like almost all cable companies treat new customers better than loyal customers. I have been very happy with DISH and with their Hopper recording device. Easy to use.

Probably all carriers have a "Loyalty" department. Direct TV has a "Retention Department", same thing. Just be patient, polite, tell them if they don't lower your bill, you're leaving. Works every time.

In early March, Hearst Communications dropped NBC Channels from DISH Network in 23 states including Florida. After a month, there has been no resolution to their fight over fees. Has anyone experienced the same problem? Have you received any concessions from DISH for not having a major network channel (NBC-WESH 2)?

Yes, I have called DISH numerous time to complain about the extended loss of NBC on their local service. I was told that I could deduct the $10 monthly fee for local channels until the issue is resolved. Maybe if enough people do that and they keep losing money, this might get fixed. I dread the idea of changing providers, but I have to, I will.

When AMC dropped Dish for weeks a few years ago there went Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. I then had to watch those episodes on Amazon Prime and pay per episode. I called Dish, and they blamed AMC but after further protest gave me a $35.00 credit.

I also have the NBC problem which people on Direct TV had in January.

Isn't it like that everywhere?

No. South of 466a we can choose from Comcast, Brightview (now Spectrum) and CenturyLink. Plus DISH and DirectTV.

The nicest lady from Comcast just got two of my neighbors to change their entire existing phone, internet, and television packages over to her and covered the penalty they will have to pay to the company's they have now for bailing out early. She is going to do this with a Visa card that they will issue in about 60 days after Comcast service starts. This lady could sell ice to the Eskimos.

My neighbors were so happy when they reported the news to Mrs Nucky and me and I never heard them ask either one of us a question so I passed no judgement on their New Deal. However we will be lighting a candle before mass this saturday night in church for each of them. I hope the experience they have is different than ours, the initial price was attractive. We will not be following them ever.

Like politics, I would like to know both sides of the story. is there anyone with a positive Comcast comment. If you want to know bad, think AT&T at LSL. They have to call 611 in the store to change things and they also get a call center. Now, I like AT&T, but that is horrible customer service if the store has to call 611. And btw, they had to hang up two times because they couldn't understand the person in the Philippines (who was probably reading from a book).
