Not everyone in the house is up on all the scams out there. Probably goes the same with those on TOTV.

Seniors vs Crime puts an article in the Daily Sun on a fairly regular basis about the various scams out there.
The IRS scam, the Grandchild Scam, the Microsoft Scam, and Publishers Clearinghouse Scam are all discussed and yet some people still are fooled and lose money when it seems common sense would prevail. Some seniors should have their money matters handled by competent family members so they do not fall for these schemes. |

It looks like a lot of these IRS Scam callers have about the same first few numbers. 206-855-6799 / 2068556799 1/3 |

If they call me I will tell them the only way they will get a check from me is if they make an appointment to come to my house and pick it up.
And before you do that tell your mother you love her and goodbye.

I received two of these scam calls from "The IRS" earlier this year. "The IRS" left messages on my voice mail instructing me to call them back regarding "my case with the IRS." For the time being I am home a lot more than before, so maybe "The IRS" wants to make a visit to my home to talk about "my case."
Will the scams never end? ![]()

Every Tuesday in The Daily Sun, on Page C-6, is an article called "Talking About Seniors Vs Crime". Each week that article discusses a different scam in our area. IRS scams, grandparents scams, Microsoft scams, most of the others have been addressed at one time or another - some of the more common ones more than once. Thay are short and well wroth the read.

We got a second call that same day also from "the IRS". This was at 11:38 AM and left on the answering machine. Very threatening kind of a call. |

I just keep them on the phone as long as I can. Use all kinds of delays, "I'm looking for my credit card" lol. That keeps them waiting and waiting. I think as long as they are spending time with me they are not ripping someone else off.

the best thing to do is tell them you are looking for your checkbook and just put the phone down on the table and walk away. a nice touch is to say something in the background like 'have they been on long enough for a good voice profile yet agent gannon?
