It's the season of supposedly "good will". I wonder how many could use an attitude re-adjustment??!! Let's end the year with some positive thoughts and take them into 2023.
I disagree. You tell it like it is, the villages aren’t perfect but damn good. So if something’s wrong state it, don’t cover it up.
A few short years ago the villages health system was rated dead last and it really concerned us to not move here. After people complained and maybe other things happened, they were bought out and the system has gotten much better. Not perfect but night and day better.
If you have a problem with your car, do you bring it up to the dealer to fix? Of course you do. If it’s a persistent problem, do you bring it up to the state for lemon law? Of course you do. If you had a kid that died along with 50 others due to a manufacture design problem, you bring it up to the state and possibly to a class action lawsuit so you can get the manufacturer to stop making them or redesign them to be safer.
Not everything is perfect and you can’t make everything perfect, but you can make it better for health and safety reasons

Don't let a few bad apples get you down.

Where I used to live one would think it's a terrible place based on some negative reviews. I thought it was mostly great in the years I lived there. I grew up in Hawaii, lived in Colorado Springs and Vegas and just recently moved here. I would rather be here than those places, yes even Hawaii. My only complaints here so far is some stores that I like are not 5-10 minutes away, and I have to deal with seeing a little bit more bugs than I was used to. But to me those are not enough to not want to live here. Good far outweighs the bad so far.

A lot of the problems brought up here can be problems anywhere. There are bad drivers and negative people in every state. Yes even Hawaii. Two keys to happiness anywhere are to be alert for the bad drivers and avoid the negative people.

IU agree. I've lived in several places and the one thing that's consistent is complaints about how bad the drivers are in where ever I lived.

I think a lot of it has to do with the election season. Month upon month we are bombarded with negative hateful advertising. It must rub off and infiltrate other aspects of life.

So OP looking for utopia, everyone happy no matter what the day brings. I never believed in the Stepford Wives neighborhood.

Even Disney is not always magical.

Many send warnings on businesses in TOTV, and I greatly appreciate the heads up.
So OP, maybe we should just ignore some issues, and just be quiet about a neighbor who was taken advantage of, in the 2023 year, for that attitude adjustment you seek.

New ropes (back when they were still hanging people) were very scratchy and took a while to "break in" and become smooth...

Hence, even though you were about to be "hanged by the neck until dead", you would complain about the "scratchy rope"...

The high cost of living, the traffic, the litter, and the unfriendly people in the Northeast is something to complain about. I laugh when I here Villagers complain about traffic. Be Happy, Be Grateful, Stop complaining and have a Happy New Year.
I chose to live in the Villages and enjoy many wonderful activities. However, that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see better health care. I have to go to Mayo or Shands to get good health care. I have a physician at the Villages health care but he is never available and I always get scheduled to see a physician's assistant who has less education than a vet. I have been misdiagnosed, given the wrong medicine, the wrong tests have been ordered and this has happened to my husband as well as horrible stories my neighbors have told me. My one neighbor had melanoma on her foot which was diagnosed as worn foot pads and sent to physical therapy. By the time it was correctly diagnosed (not at the villages) she ended up at Moffitt getting treatment for Melanoma stage 3. I could fill up this website with problems my friends and I have had at The Villages health care. I am not being overly negative. There are many wonderful things to enjoy here. I chose to live here because I can play water volleyball each day which I love. But I really wish they would do something about the health care. At some point when I can't drive or get to places with good health care I probably will have to move. It is not all rainbows and sunshine. And taking a realistic approach toward buying a home here is important. Make a list of pluses and minuses - on the minuses ask yourself if you can compromise. I do by keeping a doctor here, having a primary care at Shands and going to Mayo when needed. As an example I broke a finger and the ligament separated. I went to a hand specialist at Shands every week to 10 days, got the treatment I needed and my finger works perfectly with no pain at this point. Would I want to live close to Shands, NO. I can get there if needed but for the day to day I love my activities and where I live.
