Why?
No, the people of Sumter County are not being screwed. That's a narrative without facts.

The following data is as of February 3, 2021 using estimated population data from 2019 and vaccination data from

http://ww11.doh.state.fl.us/comm/_pa...ort_latest.pdf

Florida has given enough first dose vaccinations to cover 6.4% of its residents.

Sumter County has given enough first dose vaccinations to cover 14% of its residents.

I hope everyone feels a little better now knowing that we are getting more overall vaccinations than the state as a whole.

I just received my invitation to reschedule a few minutes ago. However, in the meantime I got the Pfizer vaccine in Leesburg so have no need of the GMR appointment. I'm sure there are many others like me and it shouldn't be long before everyone is contacted.

We relied only on email, so no text or call.
Make sure you contact them to cancel, if not that is a “lost” appt that someone else could have. The vaccine will go to someone else but not appt IF you don’t contact them.

It seems with GMR, based on limited input (from TOTV), there is a lot of not first come first served wait listing.

We have been registered since 1/11/2021 and there have been several incidences reported of appointment/contacts being made by those with later registration dates.

No way of knowing hence we wait.

We prefer to not have to drive around the state in search of a vaccination opening.

The newspaper continues to report that GMR is honoring those registrants made before their shutdown.

So who had appointments on that day, or the day before and after, and have you been texted and/or called about a new appointment? And did you get both a text and a phone call?

My hope is they contact us soon.....thanks!!!
I had an appointment for the Monday after the Saturday that they ran out. They called me a couple weeks ago and sent me an email with a new date for an appointment. I got my first dose last Friday at the Wildwood community center. I also have an appointment for my second dose on February 26 at the same place

I got mine last week. I got a phone call from the Sumter County Health Department rescheduling my appointment.

That is an unsubstantiated statement (or is it heresay) and should be stricken from the record. The jury is to disregard. (I watch too many Law and Order reruns).

The same thing happened to us. When our first appointment was cancelled, we were able to schedule our appointments at Publix. We got emails from GMR to reschedule, but there is no where on the site to decline the appointment and the email comes from a “do not reply” address.

Sign up here. Their website and vaccination site run like a well-oiled machine. They are getting in touch with people now who had their appointments cancelled when they ran out of vaccine. I received a confirmation for my second shot last evening. The operation is back up and running now on 466 behind Fresh Market.

Safe Restart

Our 1st vaccine was originally scheduled for 1/20. We each received emails yesterday and were scheduled for 2/6. There doesn’t seem to be an exact order of contact from GMR in regard to recontacting scheduled appointments. Be patient, apparently they will get to you at some point.

I also had an appointment scheduled for January 24th. I have not been contacted as yet to reschedule. Since I have to answer all my phone calls from unknown numbers I have had many calls to let me know my car is out of warranty or someone has made a purchase on Amazon for a $1000 dollar Iphone in New Mexico.

My wife and I have been on the Publix vaccination website 3 times now, and Sumter county never even shows up on the list of counties for vaccinations. With all the Publix stores in and around The Villages, you would think we would at least have a couple of Publix to sign up. Marion county has 10 to 12 Publix on the list every time, including this morning. What's up.

My wife and I had our first shot on Jan 14 with a follow up on Feb 11. The directive that came out the other day that said in starting up again they would go by the time stamp on the email sent to you after your first shot. When they set the opening and closing time stamps, we fell 11 minutes off the ending time slot. Talk about luck, ugh. Thankfully when they opened again, we got our email that our 2nd shot is scheduled exactly as before the close down with the same date and time. There is hope they will get to you.

Global did our 1st shot. We just got an email from Safe Start confirming our second shot which was the same date on the card Global gave us. 2nd shot will be given in Wildwood.

January 11 was a Monday. That was the day there was a "glitch" with the Saferestart website. Contact GMR. That is what I did when I saw that folks who registered AFTER me on Jan 11 were getting their codes and I had not heard anything. I was emailed by a rep of GMR a couple of hours later and was told I would be "hearing" from a local representative. Less than an hour later, I received my code via email and text to make an appointment. I chose that afternoon, Jan.13 between 4-4:30. It happened very quickly after I contacted GMR.

This is GMR's contact page......

Good Luck!
