So, the question is WHY do they come to the door? Because they are footstep followers of Christ. "And this good news of the kingdom shall be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to ALL the nations, and then the end will come." - (bible quote). They are not solicitors. They LOVE others and teach others the bible with in-home bible studies. They don't force anything on anyone. They are looking for sheep, not goats. There are many people interested in being comforted by the bible and want answers to things that are happening on the earth. If you are not interested, politeness is a kind thing. As a matter of fact, their magazines are pretty superb with up to date information about things that are happening. These are hard-working people who have jobs and are honest and use their personal time to care about people. To be sarcastic about them and mean is not virtuous and is not funny.
Do I hear an Amen?

Kind of sarcastic reply to a nice post, wasn't it?

I have not had any personal friends who have been Jehova's Witnesses but do know some Mormons. The Mormons also go door-to-door to give out The Book of Mormon and to spread their word. Never have I personally met a Mormon who is not a very nice person. I have been to Utah and have seen how they help each other. I imagine the Jehova's Witnesses are similar in their actions.

The original title of the thread was, "Beware of Jehova's Witnesses". Totally wrong thinking.

If you are not interested in talking with them, just decline politily. No need to be nasty.

I don't believe that he was being sarcastic. I think he just meant amen meaning the end...over and out....enough already....finished.

I don't believe in foisting my beliefs on others and of course would want people to respect my privacy. So do I have an amen to that?

I was agreeing with tweety bird's post and wasn't being scarcastic at all.

It's very easy to say thanks but no thanks to a request.

Sometimes the printed word leaves something to be desired.

The Jehovah Witnesses are probably taking their lives into their own hands by knocking on Villager's doors, with all the concealed weapons permit holder's revolvers tucked in their socks.

If you ask me, the Mormons are the worst, they never let up and they look like a bunch of clones.

The big deal is there is not supposed to be any solicitation in TV. So if we want to allow the Witnesses' do we also need to allow the Fuller Brush Man and the Avon Lady. No solicitation, should mean no solicitation.

Good post. It doesn't cost us anything to be polite.

I'm not a biblical scholar. I'm not a Jevohah's Witness. I'm not trying to pass my moral values on to anyone. I'm really not in favor of someone ringing my doorbell and trying to sell me something. I do realize that there is usually a reason why people do the things they do, and it's better if we try to understand that reason and be civil, whether we agree with them or not. Maybe this is the reason for the JWs.

King James Version (KJV)
Matthew Chapter 28, Verses 19-20

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.[/B][/B]

I was paid a visit by two women claiming to be Jehovah's witnesses. I was surprised, and asked them if they were allowed to solicit, and they said 'yes, it is perfectly legal." I wish I had called Community Watch right away.
