Well after 3 days and 90 minutes on hold Mrs. State Farm calls me and say they will not because it is wear and tear. So I have a call in to her to see if they will even pay after I pay the deductible. (900 Jaguar windscreen). We will se what this ...... says when she gets back to me.
Meanwhile if the answer is no, does anybody no how to get ground in wiper streaks off of windshields. Thanks, Bud
So, you didn't read your insurance policy details to find out about windshield coverage. Instead, you called your company and TOLD them it was due to streaks caused by your wipers. Which is wear and tear, not covered by insurance at all.

So now, even if you wanted to commit fraud and intentionally damage your windshield to get coverage, well the company has a record of you trying to get it replaced. They'll peg you for a fraud the second you try to submit a claim now.

Meanwhile, your deductible is $900. A windshield on a Jaguar sedan/saloon is under $500. Just get a new windshield, save yourself the trouble and headache. They can do it right in your driveway, or pretty much anywhere. I saw some guy getting his replaced in the parking lot outside Publix a few days ago.

yeah, scratches vs cracks, . . cracks are pretty standard replacements under comprehensive, with additional payment for custom windshields. . custom meaning any source which is not the insurance company minimum. . I had a crack last winter driving home either a rock or a temperature issue, and went with a Ford windshield instead of the commodity windshield, and had to pay the difference.

Not sure I would expect windshield scratches to get a free windshield, especially if it's caused by the wipers. . I don't expect free unless the scenario is explicitly covered in the policy.

I have seen glass polishing kits (products), but I am sure you are in for a lot of work. I have diamond polishing pads that go to 10,000 grit, and have used these to polish stone counter tops, no idea if this would work for a windshield.
I agree with a previous comment, call a couple of windshield shops and get at least 2 estimates and have them do it.

Try America Auto Salvage yard on 27/441 in Fruitland Park.

We had 2 windshields replaced there on our vehicles for $150 less than the other quotes that we received from the local auto shops.

The trick is getting one in the yard to match up , we were lucky.

Back in the day I commuted to work between Northampton, MA and Hartford, CT for almost 30 years. During my daily 100 mile round trip commute I put over 300 thousand miles on my trusty Acura, and the windshield was so dinged up with spray from the crap they put in the road during the winter it was very dangerous to drive the car at night with the refraction from headlights coming in the other direction. Talk about a risk to my insurance company, who refused to replace a completely dinged up windshield. After a quick swift hit with a seven iron, they gladly paid for a new windshield. It very well might have saved them a much larger claim because of an accident caused by lack of visibility. The ironic part was that a couple weeks later a truck kicked up a rock that put a huge crack in the brand new windshield, which they covered again. Insurance company karma at its best?

Claim has been reported as damaged windshield. So no changing story now.

Windows are covered under your comprehensive clause of policy. Not sure why some think you have a $900 deductible on comprehensive, but if you do you need a new insurance agent.

Technically the damage isn’t wear and tear, its accidental damage to the car. Most will cover the damage, usually the unlicensed phone jockey has no idea about policies. One needs to speak directly with claim advisor who would make determinations on window damage.

Did speak to the one that make the decisions. She read the paragraph which said no wear and tear replacement. I have 500 deductible not 900. 900 was a quote from Safelite. If I can find a Jaguar XJ windshield replaced for under 500 I guess I will do that.

Hmmm, seven iron. Isn’t that the club Tiger’s ex used on his windshield?

This damage to your windshield was caused by lack of maintenance, and not by a rock or other incident. Therefore, it is not covered by insurance.

Either polish it out yourself or have it done by someone else.

I have never been successful trying to polish even tiny scratches from a glass windshield.

Throw a brick at it, and report a cracked windshield. Of find a friendly gravel truck and follow closely.
