Default This just "frosts" me.

This morning, I was riding my bike around the Polo field track. There was a man allowing a large adult German Shepard to run free (without a leash) back and forth across the track. The dog was totally disobedient. Everytime the guy spoke to him (In German) the dog would do as it pleased, specially circle me and my bike. I was really frightened. If I had chemical mace, I would have sprayed the dog. (or the guy) In any event, I said to him, "where's the leash" He looked at me and said, "The what?" I said, "the leash, you're suppose to have your dog on a leash." He replied, "This dog don't need no leash, what are you some kinda cop." What is a person to do? >

First of all, just because the dog was a German Shepard does not mean that it understands German!! Maybe the owner would have had better results commanding the dog in English.

Second, you should have sprayed both.

I am not a resident of The Villages yet, but plan to be. I have two German Shepherds, obedience trained and not allowed off leash unless in their own fenced yard, whick leads me to ask is there a dog park at The villages?

Only the Courtyard villas have fenced in yards which would be ideal for someone with a dog or two. For the other homes, I don't believe traditional fences are permitted. And of course, someone also mentioned the dog park which is off of Rt 102 which of course is fenced in.
