None.
Your situation may be unusual. My girlfriend’s parents both got it in Hobe Sound, Florida. Her father died a horrible death, and her mother survived, but with her dementia much worse. Two of her cousins in Florida have died of it. Many of her friends have tested positive, without having to be hospitalized. A friend’s son is 21 and was left with a serious heart arrhythmia. Oddly, none of MY friends or relatives have tested positive yet. Just hers.

I know how everyone says that the numbers don't lie, but they do lie. How is it that on the average 200,000 people die of the flue every year but this past year it has been almost 0. I would love to get some true numbers and not what the fear mongers want you to believe.

Right on Nick. Imagine most people think the government statements, the pharmaceutical companies and the science being spouted is mostly the truth? I guess ignorance is bliss.

It is all very sad. I know one who died and 4 who had it and are now fine. The question for us is not that we don’t take it seriously, we do, but how are we going to live our lives? We wear masks in public and social distance but we have decided to go see our grandchildren for Christmas. Guess it depends on how you individually feel on a risk/ reward basis. I could not go and die anyway. It’s not wrong or right it is an individual decision.

Media loves to scare people. Apparently, covid has wiped out the regular flu because it appears the regular flu has disappeared.

Not sure that’s an apples to apples comparison.

We are just now going into the flu season, so fatalities may still occur. However, many people have gotten their flu shot, which should minimize/eliminate death rates.

Until this past week, no one has received a COVID vaccine, which we anticipate should minimize/eliminate death rates, which now stands at over 300,000.

A former coworker died recently, the daughter of a coworker had the virus, and two close friends battled Covid for almost 6 months. They've finally recovered. I take it very seriously.

96% of those that die from Covid already have severe underlying illness. Most were already knocking on deaths door. Covid got them in.

And I pray young folks still desiring to have children aren't forced to take the vaccine. It will be years before we see the birth defects caused by the vaccine.

You dont know if they would have passed now or 2 days from now. No one knows. Your argument has no basis. I agree with the poster to just live life until your time comes

And how many flu deaths this year? Or are they being lumped in with Covid?

With that logic, drunk driving should be legal. Sure, some people will die, but they could have died 2 days later.

I am very sorry for your loss.

No one escapes death. You never know when it will happen - but, it will happen.

In late 2009, my mom was suffering from an illness - we anticipated her death sooner than later due to the illness. She was still living in her own home taking care of herself. I spent mornings and evenings with her. She contracted H1N1 flu-like symptoms - and had to be hospitalized - and died the same evening - as she was telling the nurse that she was having a hard time breathing. Folks, we will ALWAYS have some strain of a flu or virus lurking. The weak and vulnerable - thru history - have always been popular targets.

I am doing all I can - eat well, maintain a low weight, exercise every day, stay away from carcinogens, sweets and alcohol....I also always wear a mask in public (to protect myself). I am not perfect - I know I will die - I know that as I age, I become more vulnerable. Today - may be my day - there are still 17 more hours!

BTW - I know many people - all 50* who have tested positive for COVID. Only one had symptoms that prompted her to go get tested. My friend is a fitness and weight freak. She noticed she gained 2 lbs and felt ‘bloated’ - she weighs 96 lbs. - that was the extent of her symptoms! Her husband tested positive as well - zero - no - symptoms! I know people who have been tested for their jobs - results fluctuate - positive one day and negative the next. I could go on and on. People I know who have died - they were people already diagnosed with other health issues - or - people who liked to indulge in high fat, high sugar foods, alcohol - and who placed no priorities on physical activity.

We need to live life, we need purpose in life, we need face to face human engagement - we need to accept and come to peace w/the fact that we are all going to die- we need to do what we can (and help loved ones) to be less vulnerable to the flu/viruses that are always going to be lurking out there.

I am sorry for your losses.

I know many people who have recovered from COVID in The Villages, but only one who died (with an underlying cause).

I am being religious in keeping myself healthy (staying away from other people, wearing a mask in public, washing hands, etc.), but I don't think I can live like this much longer once I receive the 2nd dose of the vaccine. At some point enough will be enough for me.

I could care less how other people decide to protect themselves (or not). I am only responsible for myself and have no desire to tell anyone else how to live their life.

Over 50 news cases here in TV. And people are pretending that nothing is abnormal? Amazing. Only a few months until the vaccine and they can't stay safe.
