There are two different ones typically available at Lowe's or Ace Hardware. Two-year vs ten-year warranty with a difference of around $10.

Or, if you're lazy, just tape or paint over the light sensor, and install the dawn to dusk bulb. Note, that some lamp posts have 3 bulbs that you need to replace.

No need to go through all that extra work if the sensor failed in the “on” position as they typically do. Just replace the bulb with the dusk to dawn bulb as you suggested.

not necessarily; ours stayed off all the time. And, yes it was definitly the photo cell.

If it stays on all the time, save yourself a lot of trouble and get a “socket” that screws onto the socket in the post that has a sensor built in.

Speaking of lampposts, I found out that some of my neighbors have an electrical outlet on the pole. It would be wonderful especially during the holiday season. Unfortunately mine isn’t one of them. Just wondering why some houses have them and some don’t?

You can go to Amazon and order a screw in light bulb socket that has a built in outlet. It will raise the height of the bulb by about an inch or so.

Ace Hardware typically carries items specific to TV. Call and ask if they have one.

Probably because the homeowner or a previous one had the outlet installed, fairly easy to do, and yes I agree, very handy this time of year. I think I am going to modify ours.

You don't need the extra socket. You can just buy a bulb with built in sensor.

As long as it fits(physically) into the hole, and has 3 wires, just about anyone will work.
