Default Lanai enclosures

We are considering having our lanai enclosed with sliding windows.

Any recommendations one way or the other?

Default lanai sliding windows

We have sliding acrylic windows and love them. Our neighbor just put in glass sliders. The glass is a step up. They say the former tax disadvantage for glass lanai windows is gone. Glass lanai windows used to raise property tax as it caused the room to be added onto house size. We were told this is no longer true. The quality ladder is vinyl, acrylic and glass. Go as high on the ladder as you can afford. Higher quality definately pays in this case.

I just sent you a PM.....for we enclosed our lanai with glass sliders that sit on glass transon windows and added a hexagonal hobby room off the master bedroom that also connects to the enclosed lanai. We also took out our sliding glass doors and arched the entrance way to the former lanai to open up the entire family room area. Its all fully inslulated with heat and Ac and all I can say is that we use that room more now than we ever did when it simply a screen lanai. WE no longer have issue with the heat, cold, or dirt or the summer sun that can beat down on you while sitting in the open lanai. Last week we opened the front door enclosed screened area and the enclosed lanai sliding windows to still get a great cool breeze.

Best of all worlds.

We too had acrylic windows installed. I thought I would not like them but other than the extreme heat I am out there all the time. We did put a heater in as it does get chilly out there otherwise. I agree with prevous comment as far as the more you do the more use you will get out of the room.
