Did you secure them to the floor with grout?

No need, glue in the perimeter with a concrete adhesive, the inner pavers just sit.
Then you pour sand over broom it in, take a broom handle etc, and tamp down each one takes about 20 minutes, light water spray a few times they are then locked in.

As an add on...........
We have a patio villa and the lanai area is only about 10 x 9. We want to put in some flooring, but the pavers would be too bulky. For those with patio villas and have put in flooring, which type is best? We were considering outdoor carpeting, but would this tend to retain water after heavy rain and be a haven for bugs? Also, I have seen a rubberized floor coating that is sprayed on and the other thought is to just fill in any cracks or grooves and use a low lustre concrete paint. Or maybe use terra cotta floor tiles? We won't be ready to do the flooring until we return at the end of this year, so lots of time to decide which way to go. |

We added a bird cage to our residential lanai. Removed the screen from one wall and the lanai/bird cage became one large area with a roof over the residential lanai. We like the out door feel and pavers are that feeling.
The new pavers tie it all together and really complement the space. Pavers are easy on the feet. Only the perimeter pavers that are not captivated need to be cemented down. The bird cage and lanai frame captivated most of the perimeter. Only the stoops had to be cemented on the perimeter. The pavers are laid and then sand swept into the joints. Then water is rinsed into the joints then more sand if needed. Finally the pavers were sealed. The sealer makes the pavers slightly darker and locks in the sand. No sand tracked in the house. The two doors in the bird cage had to be raised to clear the 1.25" thick pavers but that is very simple as the doors are framed as a n assembly and simply screw into the bird cage frame. Header over each door had to be raised and re-screened. Paver were installed by Five Star Pavers, Victor was our contact. Did a great Job highly recommended. I think, when I was checking, the pavers were about the same price as mid to lo range tile. |

When the pavers are installed, would we need to put a sand base beneath them, or are they just laid on the concrete? |

U use adhesive on the perimeter ( lowes sells it like caulking.)
The rest is put on the concrete, then you just sweep sand over it and spray with water. Simple, one of the guys that was working with me now knows how to do it if interested you can hire him. |

I will contact you prior to our being there in December if we decide to go with the pavers. I find that it is always best to have someone who has done this before rather than attempt it myself, even though I all of my own renovations at home.
