Default lantana - blinds cost question

My wife and I decided to buy a lantana in Hadley today. To be build. One of the questions as we finalize the paperwork in the next few days is the Blinds Package. Does anyone have any idea what it would cost to have blinds installed in a latana or any other designer? Any recommendations on an installation company would also be appreciated - including those to stay away from.

Any recommendations on style "the wife" would also appreciate!!

Arguably the most expensive and the most beautiful are plantations shutters. BUT. If you want your windows covered quickly and cheaply, go to Lowes, Home Depot, Meijers, Walmart and get mini blinds for the cost of about twelve dollars per window. They are easy to install. The good thing is that as far as I know most designers have stock size windows. We have a Camellia and the only window not stock size was the triple slider.

We purchased a Gardenia in Hadley last week and went with plantation shutters throughout the house. The cost was about $6700. We used Village Blinds & Shutters which was recommended to us by several people. Have your sales rep show you some model homes that have a different variety of blinds and shutters so you can see what type works best for you.

We put in 2 inch faux wood blinds. They have a deal if you do the whole house, you get a sliding door free. We had vertical levelers put on the sliding doors, and the 12 foot door was free. That included a garage window and 2 bathroom windows.

We have a gardenia and we bought the 2" faux wood blinds from Lowes and Home Depot and did it ourselves. I think the total cost for those, plus the verticals for the sliders was around $500-600 (2 years ago). For the verticals, the slider out onto the lanai is quite wide, so we actually bought 2 vertical blinds and butted them together to cover the opening, so you can open each one up separately. We made cornice boards which cover them up, so you can't tell that they're 2 separate blinds.

Has anyone compared Village Blind and Shutter to Joy's Blinds in terms of price and workmanship?

We bought and installed blinds from Wal-Mart and or Home Depot and a dining room curtain for all the windows (except the large slider) for about $150. If my wife saw this post I would never be able to live with her.

CLEVER Lil Dancer!

Why didn't I think of that. For now we have draperies that cover that big old slider. Great idea!

I think it is wonderful. And SO "in" right now. Being thrifty is GREEN, don't cha know?

I have always wanted to say that; (Don't cha know.) I am from Ohio however.

Good for you. A saved buck is a saved buck.

If you want to do the job yourself you can save a bundle I would suggest paylessdecor.com

Got roller Shades for Lani and inside patio doors and 120 inch silk drapes for entire home for 3,000. Local dealers wanted that much for roller blinds alone.

Something to think about.

We have a Wisteria. 46 hour blinds did our whole house for $635. They were professional and very fast. This also included valences that matched the faux wood as well as the patio nine footer. Out of town people who have seen the blinds are amazed that they were able to do the job for that price. Nov. 2007.
