Default laptop

Will soon be moving to TV.Going to get Comcast cable and bringing laptop. Will not be getting phone service but will use cell phone for now.Anyways I called comcast to inquire about them setting up wireless service and what I would need[router, wireless modem etc].By the time I listened to all their options and services provided ,my head was swimming. Can someone explain in plain English what I should do.We will be here sporadically until next winter. We are not pc people so all help will be appreciated. Also anyone know what the very basic cable provides channel wise. Thanks

Default comcast

Welcome! We're in the same boat as you. (occasional visitors to our home in Duval until next year when we'll become semi-permanent)
We bought the basic package through Comcast that included phone, internet and cable. We didn't need phone either but found it to be cheaper by ordering the "basic" package.
The TV lineup has more channels than we really need but does not include premium channels.
I purchased a wireless router from OfficeMax for our laptop and it works just fine.
Total package approx $100 and gives you the option of putting your service on "vacation status" one time a year at a reduced rate.

Go to Tigerdirect.com or Newegg.com and order a Linksys wireless router, about $50. When comcast installs your cable, they will plug the internet cable into it. You will have to set it up, but follow the instructions, it is easy. And if you have any problems there help desk is really good. I recommend the Linksys as you have a more secure wireless network as someone needs a password that you select to get into it. I have a large designer home and I get signal everywhere, even out by the pool and the router is in the front den.

Here is the one I use as an example.
