Default Halloween Flag and Tombstones Stolen

Sometime before 10:30 last night, some miscreant (or more) stole a Halloween flag and pole from the front of my garage and also took three Styrofoam tombstone markers we had put out as part of our Halloween decorations.

A few years ago, some miscreant (or more) stole my American flag and USMC flag from lighted flag pole.

This really me off!!!

The other night around 8ish and dark, one of the "contractor" large pickup trucks with normal rumbling type engine drove thru the neighborhood. I commented to my wife that it sure didn't seem normal for them to be driving around at that time of night.

There are currently 4 homes in various stages of construction in the neighborhood.

I also find it very easy to take a quick photo with a cell phone camera if something doesn't look right in case I want to follow-up with community watch etc.

I would find that suspicious too. Construction theft is a real issue...everywhere.

And Z. I think that is awful. Kids? Do you live near the high school?

Springdale is up by Nancy Lopez Golf Course which is quite a distance from any Villages' schools.

It is close to 42.

ZCaveman lists his home as being in Springdale.

Question

Why are we always so quick to blame our kids and the contractors?
Please see attached link and Salpal's post #18.

Z,

Sorry to hear that, I share your sentiment of

I will keep this in mind when we put out the Christmas bears that my wife and I made. I know we have a few law experts out here, let me ask a couple of questions about Florida law:
  1. Is it legal to wire my Christmas bears to 110V as long as I put up a warning sign "Do not touch high voltage" in two languages?
  2. How about a trip device that would trigger an event if the bears were picked up, maybe turn on a light, sounds horn, spray a little red dye, etc.

Both seem like nice DIY projects . Thinking about it the second one would be pretty neat to build.

Whalen, If you will recall I later posted that I found out it was our neighbors having fun.....I assumed it was teenagers before I learned this, because seriously, who NORMALLY does this type of stuff? Also, if you will recall, I live directly behind the High School.....

I dunno. I can't figure out why anyone would want to steal anything. I can't imagine what a person would do with some tombstones.

Stealing his American Flag and Marine flag to me is even worse.

I do know that sometimes appliances, not yet installed have been stolen from houses under construction here in Ohio. I don't know anything about that kind of crime in The Villages.

But, there are bad people everywhere.

Sorry Sal,

My post wasn't meant as a jab at you, didn't mean to offend.
And I did refer to your post that cleared up the situation.

I simply wanted to point out that many of us are too qiuck to judge.
The miscreant who TP'd your car was in fact an overgrown kid who was probably on medicare.

You may or may not know, but when I walk my dogs, I've been picking up after dog owners who don't. . . . you are welcome to use some of my harvest for your spray machine!

I am assuming kids because all they took was the flag and the tombstones. They left the good stuff alone.

I plan on stopping by the Marion police station on 42 to report it tomorrow.

Maybe I will save some other people loss of property.

Santa will probably help out by donating some of his reindeer refuse!

Getting a smelly surprise would serve those thieves right, especially if they try to steal those Christmas bears that AJBrown and his wife worked so hard to make.

Thanks for the morning chuckle. If I go that way with a design I will let you know.

Why would you follow-up with community watch? What will they do?
