Lawn Aeration?
Ive looked in the paper for someone that does lawn aeration but found none.
Anyone have a contact? For those who have their lawn aeration done do you recommend it? |

It's not generally needed here. The soil here is mostly sand (with just an inch or two of topsoil on it) which drains quite well.

Agree with CC Rider. Only need to aerate compacted soil and in my yard the soil has enough sand incorporated as to remain loose. Dig a hole in your yard to see what type of soil you have to come to a decision. If the soil breaks away from the grass roots easily you should not need to aerate. Massey aerated as part of our annual service. I stopped them aerating because they kept damaging our pop up drainage covers. No problem since with the lawn treatments reaching the roots.

Lived in Florida entire life. Have never known of any person who aerated a yard if you have St, Augustine grass. Not familiar with Zoysia,

FYI, you could use a rake to dethatch if your yard is small. I would at least test an area with a rake to see if you’re getting a lot of grass up with the rake? That would determine if you really have a bunch of thatch in the yard and if you want to proceed with someone to do it.

I recommend Oxford lawn 352 466 3497, have a discussion with Tom. Aeration, dressing and close cutting. I know he is selective on who he takes on as clients but the results he obtains is outstanding.

Something to think about is that both St Augustine and Zoysia grass puts out runners, not individual blades. That makes dethaching even harder, as they grab the tines. Still, it does clean things out if you take your time. Just make sure going forward you bag your grass to make your hard dethatching work last longer. |

Weeds after aeration
I thought my yard was very compacted, found aeration guys who did nice job but many weeks came from the holes. Changed lawn service and grass became lush and thick
