I sure hope that doesn't happen until I'm in my nineties.
I assumed all along that you were "39"..........go figure.

We go off a lot. We've found restaurants less crowded, stores less picked over and sales staff and servers less stressed out and cranky. We love TV and all it has to offer but it's just part of a big world waiting to be explored.
I'm reminded of my Army days when other G.I.s often never left post or if they did it was to go to the nearest bar. I couldn't wait to get into civies and head out to explore and meet locals. I made lifelong friends and lifelong memories in parts of the world I would have never seen if Uncle Sam hadn't called. Different strokes for different folks.

Up until a short time ago I drove 200 + miles a day and lived by the GPS.
Some time in the bubble does not sound to bad.
I would leave only for salty fish.

We golfed with a couple at Hilltop who lived in the Village of Silver Lake. They have lived here for years and their ages/health issues prevent them from driving a car. They only have their older electric golf cart for transportation or rely on the help/kindness of neighbors.

They had no idea where our Village of Bonita was, she had only been to Lake Sumter once when she was with a neighbor who took her, and literally had no idea what the Villages looked like other than the historic side of 441 and the Spanish Springs area.

She said they know the Villages has grown but they have no desire to see it all, they're happy in their little corner of it.

Until TV gets a mall, I'll be leaving the compound on a regular basis.

We do leave the bubble from time to time but it is always so nice to come back! I always joke with my kids when I am leaving after a visit that I have to get back to the bubble before My skin starts to wrinkle and I need depends!

I know full time residents who see no need to leave The Villages. I also know full time residents who would travel 365 days a year if they could. Of course such issues s health finance, etc play a role in what residents do or do not do, in addition to family commitments.

I lost a boyhood friend from my hometown recently. I called another friend as the three of us were still very close. This friend would not leave my hometown. I onced asked him to come visit me in Minneapolis and we go to the Mall Of America, etc. His reply was we have a mall here. so with the passing of our friend I was surprised to hear him finally say that time was runing short for he and his wife and he was coming to Florida.

Many of us have learned not to deal in absolutes as life is dynamic and so the never say never crowd has much validity

...don't remember the name of it but there is a travel club in TV that explores Florida together. Now that would be fun...as you discovered your new home state.
