Grew up in S. Florida and "snowbird" was a derogatory term. Much worse here. Many Florida residents need to be thankful for them and their tourism dollars.

Default Ambiguity

There is plenty of room for ambiguity when you are only dealing with written texts, it’s part of the problem with texting etc.

Yes, I enjoy guests and yes socials are great down here. A lot of our friends are birds that always have a place in our hearts. What I don’t necessarily care for are the heavier traffic patterns or the lines that increase commutes and wait times. Leaving for church 45 minutes early seems to really drag the morning along too. We are all meant to live together, but the infrastructure here in the Villages area wasn’t meant to handle the volume of use.

We are full timers, and I got nothing against crowds and snowbird season.
My best friends are snowbirds and will miss them dearly.

As far as traveling, running errands, eating out, just use common sense.
Do your shopping early, eat the luncheon specials, it's cheaper anyway.
Stay home during the day and do those household chores that you been putting off.

Are you talking about renters since you mentioned “those who don’t pay amenity fees” ?

Most snow birds that I know own their own homes so they do pay dues all year. Other renters are keeping the place alive too. I have friends who are snowbirds that are not as described. yes, it's harder to get into the restaurants but it's our time to sit back, eat at home and relax! Our time is coming to "run free"!

And there you have the real problem. TV was not built to be a tourist attraction, it was built to be a middle to low income retirement community. If it was a high income residential area there would be no rentals allowed.

Also, when it was first designed and built the infrastructure was not in place to handle the amount of people who descend on TV in the winter months, the roads are not wide enough, however the parking lots are perfectly adequate for the amount of parking, but the stores are not big enough to accommodate winter influx of residents.

TV was meant to be a residential retirement community, who knew this would happen.

Why do you assume that year round Villagers can’t afford two homes?
I find this insulting.

We can afford 2 homes but simply have NO desire to do so.

Many posts on this thread are insulting.

I’m not back pedaling, just relieving the ambiguity for clarification purposes.

It gets crowded here in the winter, I like it when it’s less crowded. Of course I love all people and the interaction. Renters will come and go, but admit it, this place is a whole lot more hospitable in the summer season. Easter seems to mark the embarkation of renters and their temporary mind sets.

That's even dumber than the original post. This place was designed exactly for the volume of use it gets in January. The snowbirds don't live in trees, ya know. They live in the houses that were built according to the design. The fact is it wasn't designed for the volume of use it gets in the summer. If it were, the amenity fees would be a lot higher than they are, because there would be fewer owners footing the bill. The under-usage of summer when your amenities are subsidized by people not here has spoiled you into thinking backwards.

The real question is given your dislikes that come with high season why did you buy here ? Was it a secret Florida has a large seasonal population ? Or perhaps your unreasonable thought process was once you moved here you or someone was going to shut the door (that was playfull retort for "don't let the door hit you in the rear").

Really? Name the major retail developments south of 44. Like I inferred beforehand, we love the Villages and the people; the issue is the crowds during the winter months. I merely mentioned the birds are leaving and it makes it all nicer when they are gone. There is zero sin in that or feeling a bit happier to have less traffic and smaller lines.
