Well, after some back and forth we met in the middle on the price. The other issue was instead of a 10K deposit they wanted 20K because I asked for a late August closing. They said the home would be off the market for 11 weeks. So I did it. Sept 1st I'll be living in the Village of Pinellas.

Hmmm... I was just in Milford today!
My wife and I did the Lifestyle in January. We originally planned to check out a number of areas in Florida as possible retirement targets. After three days in TV, the decision was made. We are now just waiting for my wife to reach full retirement age. We still haven't decided on long term rental (really long term!) or purchasing a home. We recently sold our home and are now living in a rental condo, and find we really like the freedom that comes with renting vs. owning. Time will tell. The only thing we know for sure is that we will be in TV eventually!

Pinellas is a very central location for the squares of LSL and BW. Also, as you probably know, you're just a short golf cart drive to Winn Dixie and that shopping center. That big building they are putting up probably right behind your patio villas, is the new police headquarters for Sumter County, and it will not contain the jail. That big field across from the Winn Dixie is the future home of Lowes, ABC Liquors, Circle K and Aldi's and more stores to come. Plus you have the Marathon Station already there. Evans Prairie Championship Course is nearby as well as a couple of executive courses. Congratulations!

There are many fully furnished homes for rent here and you will be able to find one without any problem.

It's seems like a great location. After I gave the sales girl the deposit check I jumped on the golf cart and drove it from Brownwood Square to my new soon to be home and did it without getting lost. Yup, Winn Dixie is very close to the home. I went up there and got a cold soda and looked around. A big health center is around there. I talked to a guy up there and he was telling me about the Loews and Aldi being built. I'm a veteran and Lowes gives us 10% discount. Now that's great. I can't wait. I won't spend another winter in the frozen north. Yea!!

When you say health center, do you mean exercise gym? There is a small gym in Seabreeze Rec Center, that's across 466A, go past the first roundabout and it will be on your left. It's about $365 a year to join, but it's really nothing more than a glorified motel exercise room that can handle maybe 10 people.

A big health club would be MVP, that's privately owned and it's back at BW. If you know McAlister's Deli and the bicycle shop, MVP right there. It's across from the parking lot from Toojays. Looks like this photo. Stop in the front desk anyday and they give you a tour. They have a special in the Village's Magazine, 7 days free to try the place.

It opened in 2013, I've been a member since May of '14. It is huge, offers classes, everything from spinning to yoga, to zumba to weights. It has locker rooms, and individual instructors if you want to pay extra. It's $60 a month for a single. I go there about 5 days a week and I'm really addicted to the place. Since your a single guy, it would give you a lot of opportunities to meet village women.

No, I meant like a medical wellness center. I took the rentsl csr up to Spanish Springs town square to look around. You can see it's much older than Brownwood. Also, a lot more varity in shopping and resturants.
I leave tomorrow. I got a lot to do when I get home. I don't close on the new place till the end of August.

Hi New Englander, Congratulations...you did not waste any time. Just think you will be a frog in less than three months (frog = a Villager until you croak). Best of luck...I'm sure you are counting the days.

We're in Pennecamp since 2010 and had lived in Attleboro MA. You'll love it here. All our friends from MA who came to visit us also bought. When you get here don't forget to join Red Sox Nation. Biggest Red Sox Club in the country. You'll especially love it here when you watch the weather channel next winter and don't have to shovel. Welcome!

The Villages Medical Office is on the right side of Pinellas. When you go out the gate, instead of turning left into the Winn Dixie Shopping Center, the fairly large building on your right is the medical office. I go to that one myself, although I believe it is at max level right now. There is another at Colony and they are building a another next to Alden Bungalows behind the Publix.

You need to switch to United Health Medicare Advantage Plan to go, that's the only insurance they accept. There is no premiums, you can get prescriptions at Walgreens near there, and you will be assigned a doctor. I like it, but I also have the VA for backup. There is a medicare office at BW on the main street between the sales office and the banks, you can go there and sign up anytime, I don't think you need to wait until open season.

Hi John, I already talked to United and they are going to sign me up on the day of the closing, August 29th. Because I will have moved, I can change and not wait for open enrollment. I have decided on United Health Villages #1 plan.

I'm going to look into home owners insurance. Also I have to decide on which internet/TV service I will get.

Being a Veteran myself, I visited the Eisenhower Center. It's quite impressive.
