Default Hail Storm Yesterday (5/09/2025) in Southern Part of The Villages?

Did anyone get any damages from the hailstorm yesterday (5/09/25) in the southern part of TV? I live just southwest of the Florida Turnpike, and we had some serious wind and hail at about 6:40 PM.

The hail was hitting our windows so hard that I thought they would break, but fortunately nothing broke. Also, we're fortunate that our roof didn't leak (as far as I know), but I wonder if there might be hail damage to the shingles that could shorten their useful life?

Yes, saw a flag pole had been broken off but it was an older one they did not lower or take the flag off for the storm. Shingles? Always possible but depending on insurance the agent will look to the NWS for a documented storm event to claim damage against. Not sure if that happened?

Sorry to hear. We live in the northern part of the Villages and apparently its a "doughnut hole" for precipitation. I can watch storms pass by to the North, East and South and we hardly get a drop. They've been predicting storms all week on the news and so far one overnight we got a tenth of an inch...

Just outside of Brownwood, gusty winds, not enough rain to shut down sprinklers. Definitely did raise the pool more than 1/8 of an inch.

No hail like OP experienced

How big hail? Pea size hail don’t damage anything, but you wait the roofers will be out in full force wanting to replace your 2 year old roof? Maybe it catch fire like it did in 2018?

I would say that the hailstones that I saw were larger than pea size. Fortunately, they weren't the size of marbles like we used to play with as a kid.

However, it was the force of the wind that made them sound so bad as they hit our windows. Our front door is recessed about 8 feet from the front edge of the roof overhang and the hail stones were hitting our front storm door like crazy.

I would guess that the wind was blowing the stones sideways at about 35 mph as the hail was coming down. At that velocity, it wouldn't take a very large hailstone to break a window.

I have only been here for about 4 years, but I have noticed the same thing about storms avoiding this area. I watch the Wx radar a lot, and it seems we are in some kind of rain shadow. Two of my neighbors recently said they noticed it. They brought it up without comment from me. With you, that makes four of us, so it must be a scientific fact.

We live southwest of the turnpike and didn’t get any hail. Or hardly any rain.

Barley a drop of rain north of 466A, let alone hail.

For all the new folks living here....the rain is different here than where you lived before. It's spotty. We too live in a "donut-hole" (between 466 and 466a) it seems. Sky can be black and thunder too---you'd think it would pour but it doesn't. Then hop in the car and go---maybe to LSL or south of 466a and it's pouring. Yes, weather radios can help but we found that ours sounds the alarm almost constantly and is more annoying than keeping it on. We watch the weather news on FOX35 and they seem to have a good take on it. I suppose the local radio does as well. No we didn't get hail and barely any rain yesterday.

I'm in the northern "donut hole" and heard the thunder and saw some lightning. Maybe a teaspoon in the rain gauge.

I live just north of the turnpike in Hawkins and we barely got any rain and no hail. We heard a lot of thunder but no storms in our immediate area.

Me too. I live near the guard gate on Morse and 466. Only a few drops of rain Saturday between 4:00 and 5:00

Hail will damage the roof of a car parked outside. I got grief when I sold my car with dimples on the roof.
