My hubby came through the intersection today. He saw a guy in a car coming from Colony ignore his red light and plow on through. Good thing no cart was crossing on green!

I did go to Colony Plaza today and was able to see the light in working order. It seems to make a difference, although I went at a not so busy time. Once we get everyone use to it I think it will do the trick. Time will tell.

I have not been through the intersection but a right turn on red is like a stop sign. You wait until everything is clear and then make the right.

What is the problem?

I used it yesterday and it worked fine. Was initially red for me crossing on the golf cart path, changed to green after a short wait, like any normal light. I think it's great!

The PROBLEM is: Is it allowed at this intersection. DA!
Some intersection it is not allowed.

When right turn on red is not allowed, there is a sign posted to that effect.

Default Traveling from the North to Colony Plaza

The real test for the new lights is to see how difficult it is to travel on the cart path coming southbound from Morse Blvd. and making a left onto Colony Blvd. to go to the Colony Plaza. The light stops the vehicle traffic on Colony Blvd. but what about the golf carts traveling northbound straight across Colony Blvd? They have the right-of-way and will definitely reduce the number of carts that can make the left turn. Last winter I observed 10-15 carts backed up on the path. The light will help a little but the only way to improve this would be to have the light for the northbound carts stay red to awhile while the light for the southbound carts is green.

I thought the same thing. Could be a problem for southbound carts turning left during the busy season. At least there is a left turn signal indicator for westbound traffic so carts have a chance to turn left at Colony.

But it is still like stop sign. You have to come to a complete stop and look to make sure nothing is coming before you make the right on red. What is the problem?

Maybe we could have Community Watch come back to direct traffic..............

I suspect that if it becomes a problem, it will be easy to program the lights to delay the green for northbound carts so that those southbound carts can turn toward the plaza.

Maybe they should have put in a light, stop sign and tunnel. That would make everyone happy. NOT!

No, because you'd still have those people who were lobbying to ban all car traffic on Colony!

PETA has suggested banning people.
