Default Support Pantyhose

I need to find somewhere to get some support pantyhose for my mom, who is temporarily in a nursing home after surgery.

Figured there must be a few folks in the group who use them...

Thanks

Did the doctor say support pantyhose or support hose? I think they sell compression type hose at drug stores. You might call the pharmacist and confirm. If it is support pantyhose she needs you can buy it on Amazon.com. Good luck.

The Medicine Chest and the Active Living Store sells support hose. In reality, the doctor should write a prescription for the hose and the rehab facility can order them. Been through this many times with my parents.

Support hose with prescription? Then you have to order it from a medical store, all others are available at Walgreens or CVS.

Default Teds

You want TEDS brand support hose; thigh-high if her weight is not too heavy & knee-high if she is. Make sure you measure her thigh/calf 1st. I saw some at Walmart near the Pharmacy but for better selection I'd go to the other stores mentioned. Someone at the nursing facility should have helped you. BTW I worked on a surgical floor for 17 years. I have a tip on how to put them on if you need help when she gets home. Make sure they take the hose off for a rest period when she is bathed & sometime in the evening, about 1/2-1 hour. If the hospital didn't teach her, have her do about 5 foot circles every hour--pulling her toes towards her to stretch her calves then around & down like on a clock. Let me know if you have any questions or need help with this; I'll be glad to go to the nursing facility with you if needed.

Thanks for the suggestions. Mom has actually been wearing them for a number of years. However, between moving here last month from Virginia and her increasing dementia, her answers about where and what don't always make sense.
