The warranty for a roof typically covers failures in the materials and or installation. From AI: A properly installed and approved lightning protection system generally does not void a roof warranty, but the warranty can be voided if the system uses incompatible materials, involves improper installation methods like using screws or nails through the roof membrane, or is installed without coordinating with the roofing contractor and the system's requirements. It is crucial to have the lightning protection system designed and installed by professionals who use manufacturer-approved fasteners and adhesives and coordinate with the roofing manufacturer to ensure the installation adheres to all specifications and standards, such as NFPA 780, to maintain the roof warranty. I believe the same is true for solar tubes and solar panels or anything else installed on your roof. When it comes to solar tubes, there are literally thousands of them installed all over the Villages. I've heard of one leaking and the solar tube company not the roofing company fixed the problem. We are planning to have our roof replaced and I asked this very question. All the roofers we received quotes from said installing a lightning protection sytem is fine and doesn't void the warranty as long as the installer uses approved connectors.

Yes, we were told that by our builder during the briefing when they came to the house after closing. It doesn’t matter though, we aren’t considering anything like that for quite a while. There are too many other things going on.

I guess the Villages warranty dept. can make any rules they want in addition to the roofing warranty. It seems pretty strange given most all the buildings the Villages builds for themselves has a LPS installed day 1.

All 4 of our homes since 2010 we were informed any changes or additions to the home could void warranty. Our family in 2004 was also given the same information. Warnings haven’t changed over 25 years. Maybe you could invite all the builders, warranty department, and developers to a special meeting. The Club would like to stop incorrect information to new home buyers. The need to correct misinformation to new residents with verbal and written communication, from Warranty department will save hundreds of homes. The meeting with guarantees, might get the developer to change the wording for warranty Last edited by thelegges; Today at 07:54 AM. |
