Default Line dancer update.....

Seems like the line dancer has been banned from the square, but decided with her friends to go anyway...according to the news.... Wonder what will happen.....public property....the police will probably enforce there order...

One more point, they have out her name, age, and address......but haven't heard anything about the punchy....seems maybe one sided

She should just stay home for the 30 days and cool off......it's too darn hot to dance anyway......

So true. Obey the tresspass order. Was the other person also banned from the square for her abusive nature. Is this other person also a village resident and why was her name kept out of the news? Somethings not right here.

Yes. She should stay squeaky clean. I agree somethings not right. Numerous reports that the punched woman had hold of the puncher's shirt.

I thought that could be construed as an assault, giving the line dancer the right to self defense, ie punching her.

If there had to be an arrest, I think it should have been both women, 'til the facts are sorted by the court. Both women should be in the public record, not just the dancer.

I can't promise what I'd do if someone was chest-bumping and taunting me, and then grabbed my shirt.

I know it is a report from only one person, but it rings true: You'll have to dig it up yourself. Apparently I've found The Paper Who Must Not Be Named.

To me their behavior was unacceptable. From BOTH sides.

Line dancing need not be the focus of all life. That is why we have golf. If we weren't line dancing and a drunk "took us on" wouldn't we just walk away?

The only reason that I would hit or harm anyone is if they would maliciously try to harm my family. Then I would beat them into a pulp and if they had a gun, I would wrest it from them, insert it into their posterior and fire.

Cool Bright Side

The bright side is that a number of communities and cities are being faced with increases in murders, mugging, car jacking, etc. Our greatest problem is two women fighting during line dancing. Not only that but it is headline news. This should be a foundation and the reason to live in The Villages. How lucky can we be?

On all my trips to the squares, the line dancers are just on one side of the pavilion. Lake Sumter Landing, they are next to the pavilion on the side by Red Sauce. At Spanish Springs, on the right side of the pavilion. All the other areas are wide open for couple dancing.

Of course, when the entertainment plays "Mustang Sally" - a massive line dance will break out that is amazing to see everyone having such a great time.

If what you say is true when she has her court date she can have people testify this other person had hold of her. I would think she had a right to protect herself. I also believe the villages may have a problem in how this was handled. Is the other person involved connected to someone? Is she even a resident? Maybe the line dancer needed to press charges also when the officer cited her. Something does not add up here.

It would be nice if parents of children would pay attention and keep them and the dancers out of harms way.

Whatever “official” made the banning decision should be fired. He or she is just fanning the flames of this incident and it is not helping the image of The Villages with the gestapo tactics. Why wasn’t the guy who exposed himself banned? Remember, he was passed out drunk on the hood of his his car with his pants down. Why weren’t all the other FELONS who committed crimes in one of the squares banned? The people running The Villages are non professional idiots. I’m sure the police did not make this decision. It’s so ridiculous.

Yes, but if they don't, we older people need to be a little extra careful. We were paired in golf with a couple who had a young grandson who kept coming and standing on the tee at our set up and shot... and it was dangerous. We all were very careful and probably didn't play our best game...just that once.

We all seem to feel so entitled to have things just our way. We can bend a bit and wait a bit and overlook silly and immature behavior from time to time.

Not all things are worth fighting for. Walk away.

I not sure if anyone should be banned from dancing at the Square. But maybe we could have a penalty box off to the side, just in case.
