Somehow that seems unfair to the rep. After all, if people are going to be upgrading it is more money for the developer so I would think it would behoove them to have people work with the design team...

That said, I was wondering if anyone would have any idea what it would run to put shelves and closet doors in the garage for extra storage. Although we are throwing out...giving away...I still think we will have far more than will fit in the house. I do not want to rent storage space so perhaps can utilize the garage space? and the golf cart garage space?

Hi Bill. It's so weird that we just assumed that we had a designer assigned to us. Our sales rep never mentioned anything about an additional fee to him for a designer for us. We thought it was part of the building process for everyone. I must say, we had the best salesman and the best designer ever! We feel very fortunate that everything went so smoothly and all of our desires were accommodated. Like I said earlier, luck of the draw. We feel blessed. I wish everyone all the best in making your dreams come true!

Did anyone receive a list of upgrades with costs from their realtor before they started building? Our realtor is informing us that he does not have any pricing information or break down of upgrades and cost. The design team will give you pricing at the time the home is ordered. How does anyone budget for this?

We are very frustrated and just wondering how the process was handled with other villagers.

We would appreciate your feedback.
I spoke with my agents assistant today. Her advice to you was to get a new agent. I told her that I may price out two different models before even commiting to a lot. She told me that was normal....

My sales agent laughed when I told her that agents have to pay for customers to use designers.
Actually does it really matter to us buyers anyway?
I do know rules do change over time.
Buyers now have much more choices than just two years ago...

Our agent gave us a list of all the options and choices available, then went with us to models that had all the choices as well as one place that had samples of the counter tops, carpets, etc. Then she plugged all our choices in the computer and gave us a cost. She knew enough about the choices that if we were considering kitchen pkg. A versus pkg. F, she would teel us the basic cost difference was going to be. If she wasn't sure, she plugged it in each way and found out the difference. So I agree it does take some work and knowledge, but your agent should be able to help you figure this out before you get with the design people.
