We've been super happy with Clarity Wealth in Brownwood. They are fiduciaries and use a strategy that is understandable (unlike some annuities with 100 pages of disclosures right?).

Fantastic risk adjusted returns and smart tax management too. Here is a link to their website

I highly recommend Cebert Wealth Management. They have offices on 466 near the Hampton Inn and in Brownwood. I was in the same boat as you with an out-of-state investor consultant, who relied on third party managers. Very poor returns and some money lost. Cebert recovered all of that for me and is hands on in managing my investments. Extremely intelligent consultants, very responsive to concerns, and very open to meetings for portfolio reviews. Cebert also has a weekly review of the market on Wednesday evenings and Thursday mornings. These are usually held at their Brownwood office and you can attend in person or on-line. They can be reached at (352) 674-4200.

Another vote here for Blackston financial on 466. Very honest and caring company. They have done a very good job with our portfolio and no pressure. Attend one of their talks and form your own opinion. But, i recommend meeting David in person at his office, ask a lot of questions and you will see what a great guy he is.

I highly recommend Equitable Advisors. Based out of Orlando 40 min away. I do most interactions virtually. Find them very personable and responsive.

For those here who may advocate "do it yourself" - not for us. So please, we'd simply like some guidance from those who have concrete recommendation for Financial Advisors locally. Thanks in advance folks.
David Blackston and associates have been very helpful and instructive for 10 years now. I suggest you set up an exploratory visit with them 352-633-9046.

Fidelity does not have tax professionals that will guide you in maximizing your personal tax strategy for maximizing tax savings and compliance. Beyond tax loss harvesting, Fidelity has responded to me that they are not tax advisors when I asked tax related questions. They can direct you to tax professionals. This being said, I am very happy with what Fidelity offers for financial services. I have been with them since early 1980s and I worked for them for 7 years.

Default Financial Adviser

We use URS Advisory, Julia and Erik Lembcke. Very comprehensive services. We've used them for years for some of our investments but I also manage some. Investment plans very tailored to your needs. Located in Stuart / West Palm Florida. About a 2.5 / 3 hour drive but can do Zoom (works well).
If you do contact them, you might mention Craig recommended them. I receive nothing other than a thank you for recommending. I searched thoroughly and interviewed many before finding one trustworthy. 561.594.0100 or Google them for website.

I would be wary of some of these small local firms where they have the father the son the brother and some other relation with the tax estate planning division. Also be extremely wary of the ones that want to buy you dinner or lunch, I've seen these guys put people into inappropriate high yields, that ended up going bust. Best bet Learn how to manage your own money, or wait a few weeks or months until you make trusted friends down here and ask them does their financial management

The typical 1% adds up to 10% over 10 years

I agree, they approached me several times in the past when I had a family member (CFP) making investment suggestions but didn't really spend much time (managing) my portfolio. A Fidelity Advisor pointed out what I was paying for the various funds that I was in and offered a lower rate to manage the majority of my portfolio. They are actively buying and selling when they see opportunities, which has worked out very well for me. The best part is having my investments managed professionally in the event of my passing. One less thing for my wife to worry about.

A few recommendations, but nothing about fees charged and historical performance compared to index funds or other measurements.

Besides: Nice guy, Informative, etc., how does one evaluate recommendations??

As you are well aware, fees are based on the size of your portfolio. I am very comfortable paying 40 bps for a professionally managed portfolio.

Missing the point.

You're comfortable with paying 40 pts, great.

But the thread is asking for recommendations.
Can't evaluate a recommendation based on 40 pts, your comfort, without knowing performance.

Some brokers charge 1%.
Seems high, but if performance is 5% over benchmarks......1% could be a great deal.

Obviously, it depends on your personal strategy, some like aggressive, some prefer moderate returns, depending on your age. I didn't miss the point.
