I told you guys a few months ago that "the other newspaper online" is a tabloid rag, but apparently many of you like the smearing of our community spread across the country to readers who've never even been here.

This (screen shot) showed up in my Facebook news feed because some Friends had clicked "like" long ago to the "newspaper's" website.

Of course letters to the editor should be published. But the editorial lead-in that the "newspaper" added above the photo (starting with 'Kool-Ade' and ending with asking 'Thoughts?') adds more trash to the pitiful cries of the letter writer who was apparently forced to move here at gunpoint, and isn't allowed to move away, either:

:ohdear: :ohdear: :ohdear:

Since some of you insist on purposely missing the point, here is my original post with screen shot again.

I didn't say anything against publishing complaints about your pet villain, the 'evil rich' developers.

I didn't say anything about the content of the letter to the editor.

I directed attention to the unnecessary, clearly BIASED captioning and lead-in editorializing they put in above and below the photo ('Kool-Ade'....'Bleeding you'...etc.). This is not journalism! This is tabloidism!

Here's a news flash: pretty much every employer you've ever had, and auto dealer and home builder you've ever bought from is/was far richer than you were. Get over it.

And as for all the pitiful souls who think they've been hoodwinked by buying a home here, that's your own fault for ignoring what you've heard all your life: "Buyer, beware".

We have never bought a home (many times) based on being convinced by real estate agents and advertising that no circumstance would ever arise to make us want to move.

Having to move is always a possibility. A tornado could wipe out 500 homes tonight, and some here would blame that on the developers too.

But you won't hesitate to want them here, halting all their other construction to put their crews on rebuilding your home a whole lot faster than it would take anywhere else, as they DID in 2007.

Think about it.

.

But not one employer, auto dealer or home builder continued to exert any undue influence over my personal living situation. Can you say the same about the Esteemed and Benevolent Morse Family?

Think about it.

Umm, you are aware that your quoted words (kool aid and bleeding) are a letter TO the editor. NOT the words of the editor? Or were you too anxious to run to TOTV and bash before comprehending the situation?

Wrong. The thing is free, online. No need to pay money for it.

And as I said in the first post, I didn't go there to purposely look at it.

It came into my facebook news feed because a couple of friends had "liked" it awhile ago. The "Kool-Ade", "ever so slowly bleeding you" in the captions by the "news"paper were too noticeable to overlook.

"I directed attention to the unnecessary, clearly BIASED captioning and lead-in editorializing they put in above and below the photo ('Kool-Ade'....'Bleeding you'...etc.). This is not journalism!"

Of course it's not! Because it wasn't written by the editor! But you've unleashed your rage before even knowing WTH you're talking about! Your points are totally lost on me when you can't even get that!

They do try. They try like crazy.

But I was taught to think for myself. And I do.

I would not hesitate to move if that's what I had to do to utilize and benefit from my best choice in medicare and insurance plans that include the best doctors I research and can get onboard with.

As I said before, putting it out front in large, bold type, in the captioning and titling before the reader ever gets to the letter writer's original statement of it, is unnecessary, BIASED, editorializing.

If you think I don't comprehend, after reading what I have written, that's your lack of comprehension and insight.

So this thread has detriated into poster vs poster, time to close it and move on.

I only see polite disagreement.

We did not get involved with the Villages Health Care System when we moved here three years ago. I have good insurance continuing in retirement. doubt we will buy Medicare B. Can't see the need.

Had an HMO once, and did not like it. In The Government we could change insurance every year. Like what we have now.

Seems like in Family businessence The First Generation builds the business, the Second Generation keeps it going as it was, the Third and lower Generations, let it fall apart as too many people have different ideas and they want money.

I enjoy living in The Villages, but I am not going to defend the Villages propaganda anymore. I have lost my tolerance for newspaper articles in the Daily Sun about the "Healthiest, Friendliest Hometown."

Happydaz. Well said and as expressed in my corporate days "Disagreement doesn't mean disloyalty". One can be upset about some flaw, rule, policy, etc here and still love living here.

disagreement is how people eventually come to a consensus ,
