Regarding hoodies and racial profiling; the Grim Reaper wears one. It's a psychological thing to get frightened when you see one lurking outside your door. Something to think about.

I believe you. Why is everyone such a doubting Thomas?

Just so everyone understands ,my use of the word "transient" was broad based. Meaning that people from all over the world move here and given the law of large numbers some will have criminal backgrounds, etc. The hoodie thing applies to everyone. It may be fashionable for some folks but to others it is a way to shield one's idenity. Sorry that is the law of nature... Example, What comes to your mind when a person you ae speaking with covers their mouth or can't look you in the eye. see what I mean. What we wear and our baody language represents beter than 50% of communication. Its not so much profiling but what we have learned from movies, television, everyday living. Hollywood has done major damage by creating sterotypes.

I assume in Fl you need a permit for a hand gun but not a handy 12Ga. shotgun.

Is there a nearby range to practice?
You do NOT need a permit to buy either a handgun or that manly shotgun here in Florida. If you have a CWL (Concealed Weapons License) there is NO waiting period for a handgun. Without the CWL you have a three (3) day waiting period. That's 3 business days. You still need to fill out a 4377 at the dealer, who will call in NCIC to get approval to sell you the firearm, that is for both long guns and handguns.

Further if you buy either from a private party, there is no paper work that is needed.

Google ranges in Central Florida, Eustis Gun Club in Travaras is close and has everything you want for shooting, pistol, shotgun and rifle. There is Ocala Sportsman Association that is very good. I would stay away from the range in the Ocala National Forest, no supervision.

Hope that this clears that up for you.
