The other Villages' seems to say they are allowed. Maybe time to get to know your neighbor and offer some beer or some other refreshments.

Liquid lights (there is a company using same name for lighting on golf carts) have been installed in pool birdcages on top beams, for years. They have the look of solid beams of lights not spot lights. Think tube lights

In two of our old neighborhood multiple pools had them across the pond. Far enough away from us, but close neighbors complained frequently about the brightness, and chasing colors at neighborhood gatherings and website.

Even though we didn’t bring up liquid lights during birdcage interviews, it was brought to our attention that certain lighting was no longer allowed, on Birdcage beams

Liquid Light has been around since we noticed them in 2012. The newest lighting shown in the post has been installed in the Villages for a few years. We have driven past more than 15 homes in different TV Villages, with the same installation, and that’s just on the main drag.

The Villages seems to becoming a caricature of what a lot of outsiders claim The Villages really is. A lot of folks are determined to create the tackiest, carnival atmosphere possible. Some of the golf carts look like a 16 year old's idea of "cool" ... in the 60's. It's embarrassing. How can a grownup believe lining the eaves of their home with flashing LED lights, is appropriate, cool or attractive?

Some are still young at heart. Also depends on where person came from to what normal for them.

Probably on some thread complaining about something and saying "it should be outlawed". There is no law that I know of that says everyone has to like the same thing. Let Karen talk to the manager.

I do wish Karen would change her name, though, because I always liked that name. How about "Meghan"? That name has become (sadly) very, almost laughingly, annoying of late.

They are "decorative" and serve no functional purpose.

As most know, not all Deed Restrictions are identical. That said, as far as I know, they all prohibit "alterations" to the exterior of the homes and all prohibit "unshielded exterior lighting".

In my opinion, those lights are clearly prohibited by most everyone's Deed Restrictions.

The Developer has done a reasonable job of trying to regulate "bad taste" and attenuate some people's lack of consideration for their neighbors who didn't grow up in proximity to ghettos, trailer parks or carnivals.

My deed restrictions do not address exterior iighting under the eaves. They only address structural alterations, additions, and painting. When I called ARC about this specific issue, the woman told me that I could install any type of light I wanted on the exterior of my house and under the eaves. She said that there was no reason to file an ARC application because these lights are allowed without ARC approval. Although, I assume that, if you are shinning an offensive light into a neighbor's house, that could be another type of issue. Pike's Electric is offering to install these colored lights, and, as far as I know, they do not get ARC approval.

I have learned in my short time here (4-1/2 yrs) that the majority of folks in my neighborhood have no idea there are covenants and restrictions for our neighborhood and are surprised when I present them a copy. Some of them are original owners and have lived in the house for 25(+/-) years!
