No word on cause but it’s not storming at all today so anyone defending them should walk a mile the shoes of those of us who keep losing power in homes with $50k bonds.

And I pray the geniuses at SECO didn’t try to sneak a maintenance outsge by customers - or even plan work that could cause an outage - without notifying customer.
I hate when others suggest this but have you called to ask SECO? My power did not go out so I don't imagine I would get very far if I called. On the other hand, you have an address that was affected by the outage - they may be more willing to talk to you.

(Make sure to mention your $50K bond so they know you are a customer they need to take care of and not just one of the regular Sumter County locals)

15 year old picture.. shows improvements and Eastport planned community... A wet prairie by any name, is a swamp.. It's Florida and that area was not prime area for building large structures..swamp rabbits run abundant. The methane gas will ooze out of that swamp for years.

I think you have a serious case of South of 44 Derangement Syndrome.

I don't think the recent power outages have been widespread in the Eastport area. I think its mainly just the village of Water's Edge. I don't think Shady Brook, or Moultrie Creek, or Wellpoint or Oak Hollow lost power

I would suggest whole house Voltage Surge protection. You are in for a long haul. stay grounded my friend
In addition to whole house surge protection get lightning rods. After the house burned down from lightning in Linden I decided to check out lightning rods. I went to POA meeting about lightening protection and rods were the first line of defense. A1 was one of the three companies they recommended because they had all the required certifications.
I got them 2 years ago and I sleep much better. A1 put mine in. These are especially important if you have gas!
It’s worth the peace of mind.

What do homes with $50k bonds have to do with power outages?

A quick on line search says lightning rods protecting a 2000 sf house cost about $1500 or so to put in. Does that sound right from your experience?

Do you think that will stop a power outage?

The Villages better work with SECO to get this fixed before they open Eastport.

Pathetic.
You live in a new area still bring constructed. It takes time for utilities to adapt and balance out power consumption to fit the Load profile in any new area. Enjoy your new home and relax, all will be right in time.

In addition to the 3 full power outages - each lasting over an hour - in the past 5 weeks, there have been another 3 or 4 power surges today alone here in Waters Edge. There are many neighbors calling SECO who claim the outages were due to a nesting animal (May 7), lightning (June 14), and nesting osprey - we got more specific this time - (June 16).

@idlewild

I've noticed the same thing here in Easport.

Also did you have two more flickers this am (where power goes out for five seconds and comes back?) - wondering if that's just my house or the whole area?

Thanks

We are in Shady Brook, Campbell Villas, and we also lost power during the same times you did in Waters Edge. It is annoying. Hope they get it figured out soon.

We get a text on power outages at one of our northern homes. Yesterday Outage (twice within 3 days) starting at 2:05am due to animal/bird for 3.5 hours. That’s code for squirrels ate the lines.
The line damage was cute bushy tail black squirrels chewing through the insulation protection. It’s common place monthly sometimes weekly, She knows our line repair people on a first name basis. Thanked her for getting power back up, and handed her french press espresso to go.

Sometimes you just have to accept not everyday is going to be perfect
