Default mail box question.

Ok we have our new house. Did it all without being able to be at the Villages. We will be living in the villages full time later. But what about the mail we will get their until we arrive. How do I start up the mail box get the information on where it will be located etc. Who do I call to get things started since I will not be there for another month or so.

Thank you for your help.

Default Mail Box

Your Mail Box is assigned according to your lot number. For all other questions you have regarding your mail issues I would suggest you contact the Lady Lake PO @ 1-800-275-8777.They are the ones that handle the mail for the Villages.Good Luck and get ready to enjoy a great new lifestyle.

Gerald, you should have received some of the mailbox info (keys, box number) via your closing. The location would be whatever mailstop is associated with your Village.

You can send a change of address (temp or permanent) to the post office at whatever zip code is associated with your TV address so future mail can be forwarded to wherever you'd like. I'll assume you're going to have someone looking in on your TV home when you're not there. Send them a mailbox key and have them bundle up what's already in the box.

If it's a resale, make sure the previous owners filled out a change of address to have their mail forwarded. Even with that, sometimes the post office can make a mistake and overlook an address change. That's what happened with us on our resale purchase. I simply reached inside our TV mailbox and taped a polite note across the inside opening of the box noting forwarding info for both the previous owners and us (we're not in TV often enough to want to get our mail there).

Hope that helps!

Bill

What would be the farthest point a mail box location could be from one's new home? At the end of the block? Or....further yet. I guess that would take some getting used to.

We all missed having our mailbox right at the front door when they decided everyone on the outskirts of our town would have to put their mailbox on their front lawn next to the driveway (on a post down by the road).
In the winter time, it means going up and down a steep incline / decline on ice and snow. Guess Villagers can just ride their golf carts down to the mailboxes.

For the area south of 466, the mailboxes for everyone in a particular Village are at the Neighborhood Pool location that's associated with that Village. At least that's the way it is for everything I've seen. It does differ somewhat when you're north of 466 where the Neighborhood Pools aren't quite as abundant - there will be small buildings for mailboxes along with parking areas located in various places. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of the above.

Here's a map that shows where the various Neighborhood Pools are located:

It doesn't take long to adjust to having to go get the mail, either by walking, taking your cart of driving your car. Our mailbox was right in front of our house for 30 years and I loved it. Now we take a drive in the cart or just swing by with the car to get the mail and we actually don't pick it up every day....we sometimes get busy and forget... Mailboxes aren't that far away and besides, lots of people take walks and the walk to the mail station is usually a nice one. No steep slopes to worry about and honestly, with all the UPS and FedEx trucks that are busy driving around the community, and landscaper trucks as well as tradesmens' trucks around, it wouldn't be easy for the postal truck to navigate streets within each village.

Oh, and in the winter, close to Christmas, the UPS drivers just drive a golf cart with a small open trailer around our neighborhood making deliveries....kind of cool... The Villages Florida

THAT IS A WONDERFUL MAP.......THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I just printed out a bunch of them. Much more manageable than the huge foldup map from the Mercantile store.

And, senior, remember that we don't have snow, sleet, freezing rain nor any of those gawd-awful things here in The Villages!

And, not too many of us have to go down a slippery slope to get the mail!

And, I think it's fairly safe to say that many of us have given up on collecting the mail every single day!
