Default Mail forwarding

We recently paid our first visit to our new home in Bonita. On the day we arrived we went to Jane's Outpost and had the forwarding service stopped so we would get our mail there. When we got back home to Maine we found that about 50% of the mail we should have gotten in Florida was forwarded to our Maine house. So beware that you might not get all your mail if you use the forwarding service which can be a little tricky if there's a bill going one way while you are going the other !!!!!!!!!

We used th USPS pay service (12.95 a week), the service had some clitches, I received the wrong box of mail one week, but all in all it was ok. The last time we used the free forwarding service the same thing happened to us, mail waiting for us in NY that should have been forwarded.

We had mail forwarded from Calif to TV for 10 weeks recently.

Got most of the first class, but not all; and some were credit card, mortage, life ins, etc bills. Those and the normal garbage mail were still put in our Calif mailbox - we had a huge pile to go thru when we got back (our son checked on the house every weekend and emptied the mailbox).

Next time, we will switch as much as possible over to electronic bill paying.

We have used USPS priority mail forwarding for two years and really like it. You get your mail just once a week and it has a cost but you do not get mail with a couple of address changes.
My parents snowbirded for years and after about 4-5 years I used to get mail addressed to them in Florida at my Ohio home!
