This is the first time I've ever posted anything on-line about anyone, let alone a contractor!
I called Mansfield Landscaping for a simple estimate to have my flower beds redone. The owner asked me to answer four very short questions. I answered and I told him that I simply wanted to redo my flower beds, that I saw him on Angie's list, I had received his promotional flyers in the mail and that I'd like to arrange for an estimate. He told me that before he could do that I must give him a few minutes so he can run through the process. I said that would be OK. After listening quietly to a sales pitch, not for a few minutes but for exactly 16 minutes I told him I needed to get back to work and could we schedule an estimate. He asked me NOT TO INTERUPT HIM! After another minute I asked again for an estimate and the phone line went dead. I called back and told him that we'd been disconnected but he told me that he's "hung up purposefully because it's obvious that if you can't give me any time we'll could never get along!" I was dumbstruck!!! I quietly gave him 17 minutes to do his sales talk and he hung up on me! Just totally rude and obnoxious. He expects potential customers to give him the courtesy of our time but he didn't have any respect for my time. The strangest phone call ever with a contractor. If he's this rude and obnoxious on the telephone how does he ever successfully satisfy his customers??? Go ahead and call him and see if he doesn't do the same thing to you if you interrupt him. Good riddence! Last edited by ronbloch; 09-12-2013 at 12:49 PM. |

Give Rupert Cross a call. Nice guy, knows his plants, is very reasonable and cares. Happily takes big and small jobs.

It was rude but not a scam. If only people could figure out the soft sell is the best way.

I have seen Mansfield work. Very good quality. Understand, that Villagers wish to get $5000.00 work done for $500.00. We can be rude as well. Mansfield was probably saving you time in the long rin by explaining the process.

A few weeks ago Mansfield posted some photo's along with a glowing report on a recent project that they completed, and signed the customer name to it.
I did not catch it but one or two interested parties did and commented that it really was border line deception or words to that effect. Now Mansfield does advertise here and he has every right to post his work, write comments etc. but to put the person name at the bottom of the write-up does raise an eye' brow or two. Now I looked at the photo's of that particular project and I thought that the Palm Tree that was planted was leaning forward, and way too large for the area. Since Mansfield proudly posted his recent landscaping project I requested additional photographs, and a detailed report of just went into the said project, thinking along the lines of considering Mansfield for an up-coming project that I have. Now some time has past and I still have yet to receive a reply. It is a shame that you got treated this way, but ya know what their are plenty of terrific landscapers who will easily create the perfect project far superior to Mansfield for a lot less money and most of all Aggravation. Mansfield Landscaping will have his defenders " who cares " meanwhile I am still waiting for a reply to my original request...and it really is a simple request, Honest . |

Mansfield proudly posted his work along with a glowing report on this project. Reading his comments Mansfield was (is) proud of this particular landscaping contract.
I as I stated viewed the photo's (2) from two different angles L/R and the Palm Tree without question appeared to be leaning forward, and worse yet far to large for the area. So given him ( Mansfield ) I asked quite rightly specifics of the project and additional photo's. Now to offer him money for his time ? You are not serious,so in other words each time a contractor writes up an estimate the term " Free Estimates " has to be asked..is it really free, or ask a simple question How Much Was That....?? In order for me to give you and answer that question it will cost you...xyz come on. As I mentioned Mansfield has his followers, and no matter what the challenge or in this case a very simple request by me to him, has to be escalated to nonsense. |

Mansfield does beautiful, quality work in a very timely matter. Mr. Mansfield has a very large ego and has seminars that you may attend and he will tell you how he does business. He presents a plan with a price and you can take it or leave it....no option of thinking it over. He also asks his customers to write a review which he will post on TOTV. There is nothing wrong with his business practices but his personality is not for everyone. He has done many beautiful yards in our neighbor hood and most were satisfied. We did not choose to go with him as I did not feel he would be someone I would enjoy working with.
