Default Mardi Gras, Tuesday Feb. 24th

Looking at the schedule of special events in the January 2009 edition of The Villages Vmail I note that Tuesday the 24th of February is Mardi Gras Festival in TV !

It just so happens that my wife and I are arriving on that day for our Lifestyle Preview! How lucky is that ???

Are there any plans for TOTV'ers to get together that evening? If so, let us know where and when 'cause we'd like to drop by and say "Hello".

Default Don't forget the 26th!

Hey Dirigo:

Can't say to much about the 24th, the people putting on the Mardi Gras put it to us on that date. Something about to much traffic. But if you are arriving on the 24th then you will still be here on the 26th.
What that means is, you will miss the "Sweethearts Valentine Dance" this Saturday (14th) but you will be here to hear "Music in the Park" on the 26th.
The same Villages Swing Band that is playing for the "Sweethearts" dance can be heard again on Feb 26th. Along with a breakout performance by the Villages Big Band group. Their first ever performance.
Starts around 1PM behind LaHacienda Rec Center. Bring a couple chairs and a cooler of your favorite beverage. Program will last a couple of hours. Fun way to spend an afternoon.
This is the first in a series of "Music in the Park" events.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!

Jerry,

Are you saying that TV's Mardi Gras festival has been cancelled or rescheduled?

Music in the Park sounds like a lot of fun. I'll print out your post and bring it with us on our trip and we'll see if we can fit it it. Sounds like my kind of event.

Default Still on the 24th

Hey Dirigo,

Sorry to get you confused. The Mardi Gras is still on the 24th. The "Music in the Park" is the 26th.

This is what happened. The people at La Hacienda scheduled us for Feb
24th. The Villages Entertainment folks scheduled the Mardi Gras for the 24th.
Neither knew about the other. (These things are set up way in advance.)
There was a confrontation between the two and just as usual John Rohan got his way. So we had to rearrange our schedule to fit his plans.
Funny thing was, we at first gave a lot of credit to everyone for finally having brains enough to put the two together. We were wrong.
Now instead of playing for/with Mardi Gras with thousands of people there we get to do the same program two days later on a Thursday afternoon.
They did the same thing to us when plans were made to broadcast a live edition of the Regis and Kelly show here. They took that away from us also due to utterances I won't make here. It's almost like they don't want use to get any publicity or let people know we do perform.
Again, that is only my opinion.
