Besides belts and furniture coverings, there are many more products out there that are made of this cheap "pleather". It's simply a thin plastic coating sprayed onto fabric. You will find it used in sneakers, golf shoes, "all weather" golf gloves and more. After a while the coating shrinks, cracks and flakes off. Had the same experience with chairs from a dining room set. Happens all the time. A cheap, poor substitute for real leather.

Found this online. Never bought there but the Amish usually make high quality items. And only $12 more than the one bought by OP.

The leather covering will either be stitched or glued to the fabric. I buy belts on sale at Bealls for about $15 and throw them away in about 3-6 months. If the belt you purchased was labelled as "leather" then the vendor was just following the standard advertising practice for belts. So, other than overcharging you, the vendor did nothing wrong. Next time, go to Bealls when they have a sale, which is almost always.
Here here, so true !

Simple solution, wear shorts or pants that don’t require a belt. Haven’t worn one of those things since retirement and hopefully will never have to wear one again.

6 months for a belt is pretty good. That said you didn’t get what you thought you were buying which is wrong. She could have at least offered you a replacement giving you another 6 months.

Exclamation You Usually Can Tell the Difference

You usually can tell the difference between a bonded leather belt and a genuine leather one if you look and examine it closely. My husband has some real leather belts and they have lasted and lasted and lasted and are still in good condition.

I would not have accepted the market seller's "all sales final" attitude because the item was not as described.

Yes, indeed. The OP should learn the term "bonded leather" and always ask / confirm that you are getting full leather. Bonded leather peels and flakes. Full leather does not. I never buy bonded leather products.

"bonded" as in GLUED on leather. junk.

Try Zappos, I have bought a few from them, all leather. Will cost you more than $27, you get what you pay for.
