Just remember that at some point, you might encounter someone who shows you a sign to THEIR business, reminding you that you are REQUIRED to wear a mask in THEIR business, on THEIR property. And if you make a fuss, they will be within their rights to force you to leave. And if you make a further fuss, they will THEN have the right to call the police and press charges against you for trespassing.

Plus everyone in the store who respects their policies, will be able to point at you, take pictures of you, post them online to make sure everyone ELSE knows that you are one of those people who have no respect for the policies of places you choose to do business in.

But go ahead and fight for your "rights."

And remember, your rights end where mine begin.

What I would suggest, for people who want to "report violators" of policy for whatever reason:

Ask yourself these things first:

Is that person forcing themselves into close proximity to you? (less than 6 feet)
Is that person coughing, sneezing, spitting when he talks, or any other such trait that would cause their saliva to shoot out like a missile toward you?
Is that person being otherwise disrespectful, or is the fact that they aren't wearing a mask the ONLY thing that they are doing, that seems to be against store policy?

If the answer is yes to the above questions then by all means - report them, they need to be reported, they might pose a serious health hazard.

If the answer is no, then just leave them be and make sure to keep YOUR distance away from them, as you wish they would to you.

Were you 6 feet away from them when you confronted the man you spoke to?

Anyone not wearing a mask in a closed public place after being reminded is deliberately violating the law and endangering others to prove a point, whatever it is. All stores, like Publix should have someone at the door to remind people and offer a mask to those who forgot. But they are not police, they are already endangered just by having to work for our benefit, and I salute them. There have been too many violent cases where the issue was pushed or there was an attempt to block entry. People of that ilk are also likely to be carrying a firearm. Far better and safer overall for everyone to just avoid such people.

There is no "LAW" requiring masks. Laws are passed by State and Federal Legislatures.

Even Governors mandates can be challenged in court.

Yes, businesses can restrict some things on their property but it can't discriminate against anyone.

(My religion forbids covering face, I have COPD, I am poor, I have no ears, etc.)

I suggest mind your own business, stay 6 feet or as far away as possible, stay home, order from home for pick up, etc.

You might just tell the wrong person(having a bad day) to wear a mask and it might not go so good. Just saying.

So if I choose not to wear pants in the publix store, is that ok too?

How about yelling fire, fire. Is that ok in public businesses?

No mask is a public health risk. Call the county health dept then the gov office. Maybe they will shut down the greedy stores that ignore public safety just to make another sale.

My observation
Publix very poor
Walmart makes much better effort
Lowes tries
Home depot not so much

Avoid shopping at stores that do not care about your health

Wow. Didn't know we had so many members of the "mask police" here in TV. I don't wear one unless it is absolutely required. I have a problem with acid reflux which is aggravated by wearing a mask. And, no, I don't have a letter from a doctor. Piece of advice. If it gets your nose out of joint fir others who don't wear a mask, just keep your distance and you won't be affected. Some people wear them playing golf, pickleball and even riding bicycles which is downright dangerous. A bit too far.

My husband and I care about our health so we always wear masks if we have to go out. He was at Walmart on 466A when it opened at 7am and someone was not wearing a mask. He asked one of the staff if they could speak to the person without a mask. He was told that an employee at Leesburg had tried to enforce the wearing of masks and the customer had pushed the woman to the ground.

Default No mask

[QUOTE=msgtpayne;1825371]I went shopping today in The Villages Public's at Southern trace. While getting meet at the deli two gentlemen walked by me without masks and since I made a comment to one of them there was no oh I have a medical condition or other problems. I reported this to the manager, (whose name was Alicia). She said thank you for bringing it to our attention. She then said I will remind them to bring their masks. ...........
If you feel safe wearing a mask then by all means wear one..... Most people do.... But if they don't have a mask on then it's there personal decision , whether it be health issues or not it's there decision.... We all know by now that the CDC has come out with the real numbers of Covid deaths and it's wasn't worth costing people there jobs, homes an small business closing up... If your that afraid then stay within your 4 walls.. Most of us are not being scared senseless an getting on with our lives. But when it's all said an done most common people will never recover from this... An it's all over media lies....Face mask is not going to protect you... If it did you wouldn't have people in nursing homes getting it cause all health care workers wear mask right???

Not only would lives had been saved but our economy would be much stronger. We may have even been able to have fans in the stands for professional sports as an example.

The store is violating their own policy. If masks are necessary to protect shoppers, people with a medical condition should be told to use delivery or curbside pickup, but to leave the store. I don't like wishy-washy policies. Our country is becoming a bunch of wimps.
I would like to add more thumbs up to this post.

I then remarked don't remind them throw them out. She said well they may have medical issues. I said, since I challenge one of the men and he didn't say anything I don't think they got medical issues. She again said thank you for bringing this to our attention. As I was moving to the front of the store to check out later one of the individuals walked right in front of Alisha the manager; she said, nothing. I said the individual just walked in front of you why did you do something. She said thank you for bringing this to our attention. If Publix isn't going to fulfill their requirement to us on their signs requiring mask be worn they shouldn't posted. Also, they should not advertise it. So, if you are shopping at Publix watch out there is a lot of people not wearing masks and they are not going to require then to wear the mask; regardless of the signs they put in the front of the store. I have no problem with individuals who have a valid medical reason for not wearing masks. However, they should have a letter from their doctor. If I had a medical condition requiring I could not wear a mask; I would have a letter from my doctor. It wouldn't be hard to get. Publix is just not going to honor their advertisement of requiring masks. I thought the people of the villages would like to know.
Also it's none of your business the person's medical history it's called HIPAA.... Some places could ask the villagers to bring in a health certificate stateing they have no STD since it's everywhere knows it's the biggest place for it. So carry your health cards people so we know what you have right... People have rights ...

Why do you have the idea that "masks do nothing"? That is so not true. I suggest you research the efficacy of mask wearing vs no mask wearing. There are countless articles and videos that demonstrate how masks block droplets AND aerosols. Do some homework about this. You sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.

Have you given any thought at all why mask wearing is required and in many places mandated? There is a reason for that.

That is not good enough. That is considered "half masking". I saw on a news cast that there are more viral particles in the nasal passage than there is that comes from the mouth. Just covering your mouth really does nothing to slow the spread of this virus.
