I am scheduled for a mammogram tomorrow at Lake Medical Imaging. This morning I received an email questionnaire from AMBRY GEN saying that it would save time at my appointment tomorrow. It started off asking for my name and date of birth. Thinking this was a scam, I called Lake Medical Imaging, asking if they knew anything about it. Yes, it's from a parent company to see if you qualify for testing for the breast cancer gene. You have the choice to fill it out or not.

I received that e-mail prior to my appointment, and I was suspicious also. Did a little digging to find out they are legit.

I do think the notification could be better worded to explain the relationship of the two companies.

It's worse than poor wording. If completing the form is optional and it will not save time at your appointment, they are lying.

So what are they doing? Mining for patients to get a BRCA 1 & 2 test for God know what cost? That should be up to their primary care or GYN doctor, not the imaging center or radiologists.

I think that is what they're doing. I do not have a family history of breast cancer, so most of the questionnaire did not apply. They didn't say a word about it at my mammogram appointment.

I'm far from an expert but, Doctor" information. I do understand why they need it. However, in terms of ID thief, it has to be a great source for ID theft. Name address phone number, social security number, age, etc etc etc etc. People with access every employee past, present and future.

The form? Print it out, fill it out and take it with you. Today, in mass medicine, medical people, many have forgotten they work for you not the other way around. Like many other things difficult to explain without being offensive. I would be lost without my computer. Part of the cost is HUMANITY.

There is no question our medical care is a mess. Drs are regularly sued adding to the cost of malpractice insurance-part of their overhead cost. Tests? Many are done and paid for to cover the doctor.

The patients. Well it is covered-SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME IS PAYING FOR IT or, I've paid for it, so I might as well get it

Add to that, self insured, you agree to pay if you need ......... You pay ???? retail, Insurance companies, medicare, medicaid pay half to a third less then what you would be forced to pay.

The accountant staff decides what they will pay for, You want something nontraditional,
You must pay for it. That seems fair to me but surely there will be other OPINIONS.

We say we SCREAM equal medical care for all whether they are paying for it or not. Yet another idea that fails a REALITY test.

Go play golf. I filled it out and it was painless and better explained if there was a risk from family history. Primary care physdo not get into these discussions for older people.

I had the same offer in January. It would be covered under insurance only if I met certain history such as a close family member who had breast cancer. Otherwise, it was $200.

I got the same email. It made it look like it was from Lake Imaging. I was also suspicious becasue they already have my medical history. Why do they need it again? So I complained to Lake Imaging that they need to make it more clear that this is a solicitation, and not from Lake Imaging. They're trying to sell you something that I don't want.

So? Its optional. Throw it away. Why waste time giving it a second thought. Why care?
