Default Meet Ken Ezell The Golf Course Architect of The Villages

Several months ago I met Ken Ezell who is the Golf Course Architect of The Villages. Needless to say I was very impressed with him. I was at the Orlando airport picking up a friend and a fellow saw my Villages logo on my shirt and he introduced himself. I am glad I met him we had a nice conservation while we were waiting on the baggage.

Check out the link below and you will find some of what is stated interesting.

In the article by Ken Ezell mentioned above (link below) it is stated that 47 is correct. Here is how it breaks down.

At completion there will be 35 - 9 hole Executive courses and 12 Championship layouts. Of the 12 Championship layouts 10 will have 27 holes. There will be a total of 621 holes at completion. Mr. Ezell refers to The Villages as the worlds largest golf community.

Currently we have 28 Executive Courses plus 1 more scheduled to open this spring for 29. We currently have 9 Championship layouts. These are all located North of 466A. That leaves 6 Executive courses and 3 Chamionship courses to be built South of 466A.

He also states that at completion The Villages will have 2.5 million rounds of play yearly. They count 9 holes as a round of golf since each 9 holes carry a seperate name.

That's a lot of cussin'!

I wish they had three levels of difficulty on the executive courses. Yes, I know the tee placement provides that to a certain degree. I think it would be better for our beginners to start out on a very easy course.

Below is a link to the rating of the executive courses. Easiest to most difficult.
